Jaycee CPR course Seven Mount Joy resi- dents recently completed requirements for Red Cross certification in CPR. The course was conducted by Tim and Jessie Crouser under the sponsorship of the Mount Joy Jaycees. Mrs. Crouser is a member of the Mount Joy ambulance crew. Barry Eppley, Marietta Pioneer Fire Company Chief, then made a request concerning fire company boundaries. The borough will contri- bute $1500 to the Northwest Lancaster County Paramed- ic Unit in 1981, to help in the education of Mount Joy's ambulance crews. Officer Aument address- ed Council on the urgent need of the police depart- ment for a new pen for stray dogs. The present pen is constantly being broken into. Dog Problem: enforce- ment of license and leash requirements, enforcement of cruelty to animals laws; asking Marietta landlords to be stringent in their re- quirements of tenants in regard to dogs; consider enactment of a ‘‘pooper- scooper’’ ordinance for downtown Marietta. Public Use of Drugs and Alcohol: citizens be willing to report such acts to the police and be willing to testify to such acts} police arrests of violators of ordinances on public use of drugs and alcohol; police prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law. Vandalism: urge the local courts to require that offenders make restitution and repair damages them- selves as a deterrent to further such vandalisny, a locally implemented pro- gram in the school system to encourage youths to take part in the renovation of buildings, both public and private; enforce parking ordinances and give serious thought to present parking- meter problems. Housing: enforce housing and occupancy codes in order to regulate the number of occupants in prevent apartment use as ‘‘party houses;’’ make efforts to locate new business in downtown Marietta’s busi- ness district; regulate the number of new apartments allowed in the business district. Miscellaneous: Council revise standards in regard to business signs so as to make them more compatible with the nature of the town; encourage programs for the young people in Marietta, e.g. Big Brothers, Big Sisters, to help them relate to the community, discuss problems, etc.; create an employment pool directed towards young people to make connections with local employers and residents requiring temporary, part- time or full-time help; consider a meeting with East Donegal Township regarding the development of Route 441 around Mariet- ta, to keep such develop- ment compatible with the community.
