Stacy Nein, the Marietta Angel named the most valuable player in the recent Elizabethtown Girls’ Stacy Nein, Marietta, b-ball tournament MVP [is The Marietta Angels, a group of the Marietta Youth Athletic Association, com- peted in the Elizabethtown Girls’ Softball Tournament, 8 to 12 year age bracket, on the weekend of June 6, 7 and 8. The Angels finished in fourth place out of 17 teams from Middletown, High- spire, Lancaster, Elizabeth- town and Marietta areas. The Angels lost two games by only one run. Stacy Nein, of the Angels, won the most valuable player award for the tourna- ment. Stacy hit three home runs and played excellent defense. The M.Y.A.A. congratu- lates Mr. Dave Turek and coaches for a great job done with the youngsters. The association also praises the team for the good showing it made in the tournament. Local forest fire crew plans lumberjack fest The E-Town, Mt. Joy Forest Fire Crew will again host the Northeast Lumber- jacks’ Championship Wood- smen Festival and Competi- tion, on September 5,6, 1980 (rain date Sept. 12,13), starting at SPM on Sept. Sth. Public square dancing on macadam will start at 7PM., with Red Taylor and The Toppers Square Dance Band. A wider scope of out-door products will be on display under the big top tent. Games, good food, pony rides for the children, carnival will open at SPM., Friday, September Sth. On Saturday, September 6th, 10AM., the amateur woodsmen competition will offer the beginning lumber- jack a chance to win a total of $225 in prizes for the nine events. Also on Saturday, at 1:30PM., the pro-woodsmen competition will feature nine woodsmen events with the addition of a new event that should draw competitors from as far away as Canada, for the one-man bow saw competiton. Pole climbing, log jousting and women’s nail driving contest will be featured. All this will be held in a new outdoor natural amphi- theater which adjoins the grounds. Saturday evening will be topped off with an amateur show beginning at 6PM. First and second place trophies for the amateur show will be given. Regis- tration must be by 5:30PM. the same evening. Shorty Long and the Santa Fe Rangers, country and wes- tern show, will begin at 8PM., until 11:30PM. (bring your lawn chairs). A cake decorating contest will be held again this year. Cakes must be woodsmen- oriented, and be in the crew headquarters by Friday evening 7PM. They will be judged Saturday evening and the winners will receive $20 and $10. Greentree Forest Fire Station is located 1%2 miles north of Route 230 and Route 283 in Mount Joy Township at Cloverleaf Rd. and Greentree Rd. There will be plenty of parking space available. Ms. Cynthia Charles actress, choreographer Ms. Cynthia Charles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber B. Charles, 822 Bruce Ave., Mount Joy, and a 1977 graduate of Donegal High School is currently the choreographer for the musi- cal, “The Roar of the Grease Paint,”” at West Virginia University’s creative arts center. She will also portray the role of ‘‘The Girl”’ in the . show. In addition to this, Miss Charles has several roles in the play of ‘Thurber Carnival’’ the second sum- mer offering at the univer- sity. Recently she finished working on three roles in the play, ‘You Know I Can’t Hear You When the Waters Running,”” at the Bridge- gate Dinner Theatre in Morgantown, West Vir- ginia. In May she toured five states as a member of the university choir. She also portrayed the role of Mrs. Lilly Montar in a one-act play from ‘“The Children’s Hour’’ at the university.
