Elizabethtown-Mount Joy Forest Fire Auxiliary meets
The E-Town, Mt. Joy
Forest Fire Crew Auxiliary
held their monthly meeting
Wednesday, June 4 with
Aux. President Ella Louise
Altland presiding.
The minutes from last
month’s meeting were dis-
pensed due to the absence
of the Secretary.

weds Stephen Powers
The marriage of Miss
Victoria Ann Whitmoyer,
Elizabethtown R3, to Ste-
phen Francis Powers took
place Saturday, June 7, at
United Church of Christ,
Elizabethtown, with the
Rev. Paul Eberts officiating.
The bride is the daughter
of Charles A. Whitmoyer
Jr., 158 Eleanora Dr.,
Maytown, and Mrs. Maxine
Whitmoyer, Village Green
Apartments, Elizabethtown.
She graduated from Eliza-
bethtown High School and
Mount Joy Vo-Tech School.
She is employed by Masonic
Homes, Elizabethtown.
The bridegroom is the son
of Mrs. Helen E. Powers,
158 N. Maple St., Elizabeth-
town, and the late William
J. Powers. He graduated
from Elizabethtown High
School and is employed by
QVS Real Estate, Elizabeth-
town.
Miss Barbara Whitmoyer,
sister of the bride, Middle-
town, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were sisters of
the bride Patricia Whit-
moyer, Ephrata, and Karen
Whitmoyer, Elizabethtown.
Flower girl was April Trees,
Lancaster.

Fire Co.
reports
The Maytown-East Don-
egal Fire Company re-
sponded to seven emer-
gency calls during the
month of May, according to
Fire Chief Charles Shaffner.
Shaffner reported that the
company also responded to
eight work details, one
public service call and one
controlled burning. Fire
Company equipment was in
service 29 hours and a total
of 149 firemen assisted with
all of the calls.
Emergency calls consist-
ed of the following: one
truck fire; one assist to
Marietta Fire Company at a
structure fire; two vehicle
accidents; one reported
structure fire, false alarm
with no need of Fire
Company services; one
brush fire; and one car fire.
Property damage for the
month was estimated at
$350.00. Endangered pro-
perty saved was estimated
at $9,300.00.
The next monthly meeting
of the Fire Company is
scheduled for Monday, July
14, at 7:00 pm.

Serving as best man was
Mike Powers, brother of the
bridegroom, Elizabethtown.
Ushers were Richard Hain-
ley, Ephrata and Timothy
Whitmoyer, brother of the
bride, Elizabethtown.
The couple will live in
Elizabethtown.
The Asst. Treasurer,
Verna Fackler, gave. the
Treasurer’s report.
Under old business, the
Crew picnic was discussed.
It will be held Sunday,
August 3, at Sico Park, Pav.
#1. Each family is to take a
hot dish, 1 cold dish and
their own coffee, tea, or
soda. Time will be 12 noon
until ?.
The Aux. will not partici-
pate in the Lancaster Co.
Fireman’s Convention this
year at Quarryville, since a
small flat bed trailer is not
available for the float. The
Crew will be in the parade
with all Crew trucks.
The Memorial Day food
stand was a big success
even though there was some
rain to slow down sales.
Aux. President thanked
the Vice President, Linda
Boozer, for taking charge of
the May meeting, while
President Ella Louise Alt-
land was visiting the
hospital with her husband,
Warden H. Eugene Altland,
who underwent two major
surgeries recently. Warden
Altland conveyed his thanks
for the many cards, plants,
fruit, visits, prayers, etc.
during his 17 days in
Columbia Hospital.
Plans are being made for
the upcoming Greentree
Woodsman. Festival which
will be held the (first
weekend after Labor Day.
Verna Fackler will be in
charge of the kitchen, for
which plenty of food will be
planned to be sold during
the 2 days of the festival.
A sub sale is planned for
June 20. Deliveries will be
made to various business
places, in time for lunch.
The cost of the subs will be
$1.25.
A stand is also planned
for July 12 at Wissler
Motors, Inc., along Rt. 230
West of Mount Joy. Anyone
wishing to donate any
articles of clothing, dishes,
books, any other items you
are tired of(all must be in
good condition) please con-
tact 653-2130 and we will
pick up the items. Help up
so we can help Smokey! The
time for this sale will be
9-3PM. We will also have
baked goods, Smokey Bear
items and crafts. You do not
have to be a member to
donate something for this
worthy cause. If you cannot
reach anyone by telephone,
just drop off your donations
at 139 N. Market St., Mount
Joy, and leave on the back
patio or the picnic table.
Next month’s meeting
will be a joint session with
the Crew on Wednesday,
July 9.
A trip to the shore was
discussed but no immediate
plans were made. Anyone
interested in going to Ocean
City, Maryland in August,
please phone the office
(653-2130) as soon as
possible.
