Navy Airman Apprentice
Kenneth E. Stoutzenberger
Jr., son of Kenneth E.
Stoutzenberger Sr. of SS7
W. Market Street, Marietta,
and Dolores Rivera of River
Road, Washington Boro,
has completed the Basic
Avionics (‘‘aviation elec-
tronics’’) Technician course.
During the 15-week
course at the Naval Air
Technical Training Center,
Millington, Tenn., Stoutzen-
berger received instruction
on the foundamentals of
electronic circuitry and was
introduced to the wide
variety of electronic equip-
ment items currently in-
stalled aboard Navy and
Marine Corps Aircraft. He
studied airborne radar,
communication and com-
puter equipment, plus the
technical manuals, safety
precautions and trouble-
shooting procedures used
for maintaining each.
Stoutzenberger joined the
Navy in July 1979.

Bernard R. Wise, son of
Mrs. Claire S. Wise, 337 E.
Market St., Marietta, was
among the 192 seniors who
received degrees at the 77th
annual Commencement held
at Elizabethtown College on
May 10.
Wise was awarded the
bachelor of science degree.
He majored in psychology at
Elizabethtown.

Phil Landis has been
selected as the Outstanding
Physics Student in Donegal
High School. William
Loercher, physics instruct-
or, presented him with a
certificate from the Ameri-
can Association of Physics
Teachers at an awards
ceremony held June 2 at
Hostetter’s Dining Hall.
Phil is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. William Landis, R#1,
Columbia, PA.
The American Association
of Physics Teachers was
founded almost fifty years
ago to encourage excellence
in physics teaching and has
approximately 9,300 mem-
bers in the United States
and abroad.

Pvt. James S. Kise, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Garlan S.
Kise, R1, Bainbridge, Pa.,
recently completed a mec-
hanic course on wheeled-
vehicles at the U.S. Army
Training Center, Fort Jack-
son, S.C.
Kise entered the Army in
January, 1980.

Foley of Mount Joy has been
named to the finance
committee of the Penn
Laurel Girl Scout Council.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gutshall
Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Gutshall, R1 Marietta, ob-
served -their SO0th anniver-
sary with a surprise dinner
at Willow Valley Restaurant.
They were married June
S, 1930 in Maryland. Mr.
Gutshall is the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Gutshall. Mrs. Gutshall is
the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. James Kirkpat-
rick.
They are the parents of
four daughters, Mildred,
wife of Gene Mohr; Betty,
wife of Douglas McNaugh-
ton, both of Marietta;
Sandra, wife of Ted Shelly,
Mount Joy R2; and Alberta,
wife of Brad Rohrbaugh of
Hellam.
They are the grandpar-
ents of 16 grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Gutshall are
the former owners of Herr’s
Fruit Market (known as
Gutshall’s Fruit Market);
Kline’s Trailer Court (form-
erly Gutshall’s Trailer
Court), and Marco’s Restau-

Gutshall has been retired,
but now drives Lancaster
Limousine parttime. He
enjoys hunting, fishing and
traveling.
Mrs. Gutshall is also
retired and enjoys bowling,
traveling and being with
people.
They are also the parents
of the late Patricia Ginder,
wife of Walter Ginder, 22
Briar Cliff Road, Elizabeth-
town.
Mrs. Gutshall is the sister
of Walter Kirkpatrick, Car-
lisle R.D.; Ray Kirkpatrick,
Hershey R.D.; Evie, Bain-
bridge, wife of the late
Wilson Gutshall; Mildred,
Lancaster; John Kirkpat-
rick, Middletown; Arlene
Fitzwater, Elizabethtown;
James Kirkpatrick, Mt. Joy.
Mr. Gutshall is the
brother of Ida Hockenberry,
Bainbridge; Ethel Fitzpat-
rick, Elizabethtown, and the
late Wilson Gutshall, Bain-
bridge.
Donegal Presbyterian
Strawberry Festival
The traditional strawberry
festival, sponsored by the
Men’s Association of his-
toric Donegal Presbyterian
Church, Mt. Joy RD1, will
be held Saturday, June 14,
from 3 to 8PM., in the
church grove.
Ice cream, strawberries,
cake and beverage will be
offered. Also available at
additional cost will be soups
and sandwiches.
Several hundred quarts of
Lancaster-grown berries will
be picked by church volun-
teers. Proceeds from the
festival help fund a variety
of church projects.

Mrs. Helen Barnhart and
* Alice Watts were honored at
the high school last Wed,
nesday, June 4. Both are
retiring from their cafeteria
duties at Donegal.
Mrs.
Barnhart
was the
food service manager for the
district and Mrs. Watts was
the high school cafeteria
manager. They were each
presented a plaque and a
flower arrangement by the
Donegal student council.
