For about a month I awaited the arrival of the Wren family. Then I remembered the free clas- sified ad section of the Susquehanna Times Ex- change. Whithin S days of the published ad 1 saw evidence of a family moving in. Today it was my pleasure to witness Jenny entering the front door. The wrens appear to be good house- keepers and fine cheerful neighbors. Many thanks to your fine newspaper for your assistance. Editor MARIETTA TIMES Do you have any antique desk drawers in which type was kept in the past? At that time they were probably in the printing press room of the newspaper. My family lived in Marietta over sixty years ago. My father was Dr. George L. Cassel and my uncle was the Hon. H. Burd Cassel. Very likely there is no one living in Marietta now who would remember our family. I wonder if any of the Duffy family or the Heistand Family or the Rich family are there now. I saw in the Lancaster paper that this Saturday is Marietta Day. While we were living there, Marietta celebrated her Centennial. That was in 1912. I have the Souvenir Booklet of the affair which contains thirty- eight views of streets, houses, floats and stores. I also have post cards that I bought while living there. I have an old history when one of the streets was called ‘Elbow Lane.’’ I have deeds to land there that date back to 1814, and also many, many memories of the town as it used to be and of the Susquehanna and the Ac- comac. When you have time please let me know if you have any old type drawers stuck away somewhere. [am taking for granted that the Marietta Times is still going strong as a weekly paper. Very sincerely, Miriam Cassel Matthews [Mrs. Don Matthews] 139 Colgate Avenue Johnstown, Penna.
