Obituaries
CLINTON G EBY
Clinton G. Eby, 79, of 330
North Barbara Street,
Mount Joy, died at Lan-
caster General Hospital last
weekend after an illness of
several months.
He was self-employed for
more than 28 years on a
bread route he operated. He
sold for Coopers Bread
Company, Lancaster. After
retirement, he was em-
ployed by the Donegal
School District and National
Central Bank as a janitor.
Born in Rapho Township, -
he was a son of the late
Clinton H. and Barbara F.
Garber Eby. He was a
member of St. Mark's
United Methodist Church
and the Mount Joy Fire
Company. He was also a
Free and Accepted Mason,
Casiphia Lodge 551, Mount
Joy, and belonged to the
Lancaster Lodge of the Per-
fectors and the Harrisburg
Consistory.
He was a member of the
Mount Joy Leisure Club and
the Mount Joy Historical
Society. He and his wife,
Lillian Barto Eby, celebra-
ted their SSth wedding
anniversary on April 16th,
1979.
Surviving, in addition fb
his wife, are two daughters;
Vera, wife of Thomas Cox,
Mount Joy; and Shirley,
wife of Glen Forney,
Stroudsburg; four grand-
children and one great-
grandchild.
IVA A. HERCHELROTH
Iva A. Herchelroth, 8S, of
Bainbridge, died at her
home last week. She was the
widow of Benjamin F.
Herchelroth Sr.
Mrs. Herchelroth was a
Bainbridge resident for
most of her life. She was
born in McCall's Ferry,
Lancaster County, the
daughter of the late Elliot E.
and Catherine Lighty Byer-
ly.
She was a member of the
United Methodist Church,
Bainbridge.
Surviving are four sons:
Benjamin Jr., Bainbridge;
Joseph B., Wrightsville;
John E., Bainbridge; and
Lehman E., Silver Springs;
two daughters: Nancy L.,
wife of Charles Eater,
Madison, Me.; and Rachael
A., wife of William Bates,
Montoursville; 14 grand-
children; two step-grand-
children; eight great-grand-
children; and a brother,
Lester Byerly, Bainbridge.
EDWARD L. PROCTOR
Edward L. Proctor, of 225
S. Sth St., Columbia, died at
the Columbia Hospital last
week. He was SS.
Born in Philadelphia, he
was the son of the late
Edward C. and Marquerite
Henderson Proctor. He was
the husband of Shirley
Bailer Proctor.
Mr. Proctor was em-
ployed by the Catalytic Inc.,
stationed at the Three Mile
Island Nuclear Power Plant.
He was a member of the
Bethel AME Church, Mari-
etta. He was also a member
of Lincoln Valley Lodge 93
F&AM, Columbia, serving
as past master; Nimrod
Consistory 9, Harrisburg,
past commander and chief;
Himyar Temple 17, Harris-
burg, presently the honor-
ary potentate; Holy Royal
Arch Masons, chapter 56,
Harrisburg, presently the
high priest. He was also
past district lecturer of the
Sth Masonic District.
Surviving in addition to
his wife are seven sons:
Edward L., Ronald L.,
Lawrence H., Jeffrey A. and
John K., all of Harrisburg;
Terrence L., Anthony E.,
both at home; five daugh-
ters, Sandra K. Mosten,
Patricia N. Stevens and
Marcella D. Proctor, all of
Harrisburg; Sharlene L.
Moen, Las Vegas, Nev;
Tamara M. Proctor, at
home; and 17 grandchild-
ren.
He was the last surviving
member of his immediate
family.
Saint Luke’s Episcopal
to observe Holy Week
St. Luke's Episcopal
Church, Mount Joy, will
begin its observance of Holy
Week with the Liturgy of the
Palms at both the 8:30 am
and 10:30 am services on
Palm Sunday, March 30.
The Gospel reading for this
Liturgy retells Jesus’ tri-
umphel entry into Jeru-
salem. The Church School
will be participating in the
late service on this day with
each student receiving a
palm cross at the time of the
palm distribution.
Following the special
Liturgy, the Church School
Florin Brethren Church
to hear Passion cantata
The Senior Choir of the
Florin Church of the Breth-
ren will present the Cantata
“On the Passion of Christ”
by David H. Williams,
tracing the events of Holy
Week up to Christ’s death.
Several tableaus, represent-
ing the various scenes, will
be coordinated with the
music.

classes and the service will
continue with a celebration
of the Holy Eucharist.
Palm Sunday is also
known as Passion Sunday
because the passion of Our
Lord is read during the
service. The reading of the
passion is broken into parts
with various lay readers
assuming the roles of the
key figures in the passion
account. The congregation
will assume the role of the
crowds at Jesus’ trial and
crucifixion.
The choir director is
Sylvia Weaver, and the
organist is Dr. Carl Shull.
Soloists for the cantata are
Donald Witman, Robert
Kettering, Connie Kline,
Linda Drause and David
Brubaker.
The cantate will be
presented during the morn-
ing worship hour on Palm
Sunday, March 30, at 10:00
am. The church is located at
815 Bruce Avenue, Mount
Joy. Everyone is cordially
invited to attend.

JOHN W. WIDMAN
John W. Widman, 72, of
112 Hallmark House, Briar-
crest Garden, Hershey, died
last week at the Hershey
Medical Center.
He was born in Florin, the
son of the late John S. and
Louisa Widman.
He was a charter member
of the Friendship Fire
Company No. 1, Mount Joy,
and belonged to the Free
and Accepted Masons
Lodge 402, New London,
N.Y.
He was the husband of
Alma Geriach Widman and
a member of the Holy
Trinity Church, Hershey.
A veteran of the U.S.
Navy in World War II, he
was a retired employee of
the federal government.
Surviving in addition to
his wife are two brothers,
James L., Florida, and
Joseph R., Utah; one sister,
Mrs. William A. Lewis,
Lancaster, and several niec-
es.
