Methodist Church, Shamo-
kin, PA, will present a
program on the Shroud of
Turin on March 29 at the
First United Methodist
Church of Marietta (216
East Market Street, Mariet-
ta), The shroud is a burial
cloth containing the image
of a crucified man, dating °
from the time of Christ,
which bears all marks
attributed to Christ in the
Gospels. The shroud is kept
in the Cathedral Church,
Turin, Italy. Rev. Sparks has
spent many years of study
on the shroud and will
present a slide presentation
followed by an open dis-
cussion.
A covered dish supper is
planned for 5:30. Dinner-
ware, rolls, butter and
beverage will be provided.
Those attending the supper
should bring a covered dish
or dessert. All are welcome.

Following the supper, at
approximately 6:30, Rev.
Sparks’ presentation will
begin.
The program is sponsored
by the young adults of the
First United Methodist
Church in Marietta. A free
will offering will be taken to
cover Rev. Sparks’ travel
expenses.
Saint Luke’s to have full program
of services throughout Holy Week
St. Luke’s Episcopal
Church, Mount Joy, will
offer a variety of services
during Holy Week. Each
day in Holy Week the
Gospel reading tells of
different events that oc-
cured during the last week
of Jesus’ earthly ministry.
The service of Holy
‘Eucharist will be offered at
different times each day.
The schedule of these
services is as follows:
Monday, March 31, 10:00
am; Tuesday, April 1, 7:00
am; Wednesday, April 2,
7:30 pm; Maundy Thursday,
April 3, 7:30 pm.
Immediately following the
Maundy Thursday service
there will be the stripping of
the altar in preparation for
Good Friday. On Saturday,
Easter Even, April S, at 7:00
pm, there will be the service
of the Easter Vigil with Holy
Baptism.
The Church School will be
involved in the Easter Vigil
service, enacting the lessons
for the Vigil, including the
story of the Creation and the
The United Church of
Christ, 3 East Waterford
Marietta, will have an
Easter Dawn Service at 6
a.m. Following the service,
members of the Women’s
message of Ezekiel preach-
ing to the dry bones. Durjng
the Vigil there will be the
lighting of the Pachal
Candle. This candle symbol-
izes the resurrected Christ.
The light from the candle
proclaims to all that Christ
has been raised from the
dead.
Marietta UCC to hold
Easter Dawn Service
Guild will sponsor a break-
fast to which the public is
invited. Sunday School will
be at 9 am. and Holy
Communion will be given at
the 10:15 a.m. service.
