February was a busy
month for the Maytown
firemen as they responded
to a total of 16 calls.
Fire Chief Charles Shaff-
ner reported the fire calls
involved 3 vehicle accidents,
1 structure fire, 6 assist
brush fire, 2
fires, 1 smoke
A total of 182 firemen
responded to the month's
calls, and fire equipment
was in service 22 hours.
Property damage for East
Donegal Township was
estimated at $45,300. En-
dangered property saved
was estimated at $185,000.
Fire company members
Joe Ney and Sam Johns
recently presented
were
Maytown firemen-answer 16 calls;
Ney, Johns life members
lifetime memberships in
recognition of their many
years of service. Both
members are still actively
serving as company fire
police. Fire company mem-
ber Ruth McConnell has
been appointed to the
position of fire company
photographer. Larry Warfel
has been elected to the
office of Chief Engineer.
The fire company has put
in service 1200 feet of 3”
supply line recently pur-
chased by East Donegal
Township. A S watt portable
radio has been purchased by
the fire company. It has
been put into service,
providing better radio com-
munications.
The firemen will be
holding a chicken bar-B-Q
Saturday, March 29, start-
ing at 10:00 am. Harland

bequer. Deliveries will be
made to Rowenna, River-
moor and Marietta. The
times of delivery will be
announced at a later date.
Firemen will be washing
cars April S starting at 8:00
am. Plan on getting your car
washed for Easter. Fee will
be by donation.
The Maytown Ladies’
Auxiliary is planning an
Easter egg hunt at Rock
Point Park for Saturday,
March 29. They are also
planning a bake sale for the
car wash, April S.
A fire company auction is
being planned for the fall.
The company will be asking
for donations at a later date.
The April fire company
meeting will be April 14,
7:00 pm at the East Donegal
Township Building.
