Navy Machinist’s Mate
Fireman Thomas S. Wood
Jr., son of the Rev. and Mrs.
Thomas S. Wood of King
River Haven, Route 1,
Bainbridge, PA, has com-
pleted the Basic Machinist’s
Mate Course.
During the course at the
Naval Training Center,
Great Lakes, students re-
ceived instruction on the use
of hand tools and machine
shop equipment. In add-
ition, they studied the basic
operation, maintenance and
repair of ships’ propulsion
equipment, evaporators and
generators. The students
were also introduced to the
types of duty watches that
Machinist’s Mates stand
aboard ships.
A 1979 graduate of
Donegal High Shcool, Wood
joined the Navy in July
1979.

Two local students will be
among the 16-member Eliz-
abethtown College Brass
Ensemble which will pre-
sent a concert on Monday,
Feb. 25 at 8 pm in Rider
Recital Hall. Arthur Baugh-
man, a senior from Mount
Joy, will play trombone, and
Gary Ebersole, a Donegal
High School student will
play trumpet. The recital is
free and open to the public.

Jeanette Mummau, Eliza-
bethtown, Pa., left the U.S.
January 20th to serve a
three-year term as adminis-
trative assistant for the
medical research programs
at Shirati, Tanzania. Her
address is Box 7, Musoma,
Tanzania.

Several local students
were named to Penn State’s
University Park campus
Dean’s List for the fall
semester. To qualify for the
Dean’s List, a student must
have an average of 3.50 or
better.
Named to the list were
Timothy L. Eshelman, Box
187, RD2; Brian K. Holden,
120 Lefever Rd.; Karen Y.
Shenk, RD2, Box 140; and
Jeffrey H. Zimmerman,
RD2, all of Mount Joy.

Henry Fuller, Mount Joy,
won $5000 last week in the
state’s 42nd millionaire
lottery drawing. Fuller was
in the drawing for the
million dollars which was
won by a man from
Conshohocken.

Butch Kolp
on school’s
all-star team
Pamela (Butch) Kolp, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Kolp, Mulberry Street,
Marietta, has been elected
a hockey team all-star at
Brym Maur, PA. She was
captain of the hockey team
and is captain of the school’s
basketball team.
Butch will graduate from
Harcom in May.
