There were fewer pressures, but fads were varied and numerous. One such hobby came to light recently when Joseph Libhart, Marietta rearranged some boxes in his loft. Libhart found a box which contained a very heavy object. It turned out to be a February 13, 1980 3 Michelle McMillen holds the silver foil ball while her mother Janet looks on ball of silver paper or foil. He recalled having been given the object when he and his brother were boys. Ray Naylor, a neighbor of his had made it a gift. Ray was the proprietor of the Colonial Tea Room which is today known as the Colonial Inn at 324 West Market Street, Marietta. Libhart presented the silver ball to Naylor's granddaughter Janet Mc- Millen. “l can’t express how pleased I am that someone thought to give this to me rather than throwing it out,”” remarked Mrs. Mc- Millen. “It just means so much to me, and I want Joe Libhart to know that I am grateful.” The ball originated when Mr. Naylor suggested that children who purchased penny candy place the silver paper by his ball. It was hammered periodically to make the ball solid. Why it was called silver is still a mystery, because the only metal contained in the ball is nickel. Michelle McMillen, Ja- net’s daughter, held the twelve pound ball for us and let us know that “‘it’s very heavy!”’ Drace and Mark chair Heart Fund Volunteers for the 198C American Heart Association Residential Campaign will be visiting households throughout the Donegal District in February to distribute information about how the Heart dollar is spent and to give the residents an opportunity to contribute to the heart fund. Mr. John Drace of Maytown will serve as chairman for East Donegal Township and Mrs. Mark Buller will serve as chair- man of the Mount Joy Borough. They will be working under Division V Residential Chairman, Mr. David Pollock of Elizabeth- town. Heart Fund dollars sup- port research, public health education, professional ed- ucation and community services such as blood pressure screenings and risk factor screenings. The chairmen remind the public that the Heart Association is fighting to reduce early death and disability from heart disease and stroke. It will trace the development , up to the present time by featuring such well-known architects as Frank Lloyd Wright and others.
