Hollis D. Baker and Kirk
E. Billet, both of Marietta,
are members of the 1979-80
Concert Band at Elizabeth-
town College.
Miss Baker, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. James R.
Baker, Fairview Ave., is a
junior majoring in music
education at Elizabethtown.
She plays a baritone sax-
ophone in the band and is
also manager of the Stage
Band.
Billet, a freshman music
education major, is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Lester E.
Billet, RD 1, Marietta. He
plays a piccolo in the band.
The Concert Band has
performed this year at the
college’s opening convoca-
tion in September and gave
a major concert in Nov-
ember as the concluding
event in the college’s
observance of Colonial Her-
itage Week. The band will
present its annual Winter
Concert on February 24 at 3
pm in the college’s Thomp-
son Gym.

Donna D. Neidigh of
Mount Joy is on the fall
Deans List at Millersville
State College. Donna is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Christian Neidigh, Wood
Street, Mount Joy. She is
seeking a B.S. degree in
nursing.

Congressman Bob Walker
recently released the names
of nominees from the 16th
District for admission to the
nation’s four service acad-,
emies.
Included in this list was
Joel A. Gerber, R#1, Box
135, Bainbridge. Gerber has
received nomination to the
United States Military Acad-
emy at West Point, New
York.

Spec. S Dennis C. Mc-
Nece of Mount Joy, recently
participated in Exercise
Mojave Chief at Fort Irwin,
California. McNece is sta-
tioned at Fort Carson, Colo.,
with the army.
Fort Irwin, situated on the
edge of Death Valley and
the Mojave -Desert, offers
rolling sand dunes, barren
mountains, and dry lake
beds for desert armor
training.
The exercise included
combined arms and joint
tactical operations, live
firing and environmental
adjusting.
McNece is a cook with the
20th Field Artillery of Fort
Carson.
A 1974 graduate of
Donegal High School, Mc-
Nece entered the Army in
October of the same year.
He is the son of Thurman
C. McNece, 14 Marietta
Ave., Mount Joy and Mrs.
Elsie J. McNece, 33 E. High
St., Maytown.
His wife, Rosanna, is with
him near Fort Carson.

Sandra McQuate, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Lineoweaver of
Mount Joy, has been named
to the Deans List for the first
semester at York College of
Pennsylvania. The 1979
graduate of Donegal High
School is a freshman
majoring in the medical
secretary program.
Boy Scout troop
93 hands out awards
Boy Scout Troop #93 of
Marietta, held a Court of
Honor Sunday evening in
the Marietta Jaycee Center.
The awards presented by
scoutmaster Michael Moyer
are as follows: Russell
Flowers, Fish-Wildlife man-
agement merit badge and
advanced to the rank of Life
scout; Tom Flowers, Can-
oeing merit badge and
advanced to the rank of First
Class scout; Dave Moyer,
camping merit badge and
advanced to Star scout; and
Tyron Smith, camping and
First Aid merit badge and
advanced to Tenderfoot
scout.
Advanced to scout rank
were Mike Lowman and
Rich Funk.
Marietta Community
Chorus to prepare
for Easter Cantata
The Marietta Community
Chorus will resume practice
for its Easter Cantata on
Sunday, January 27, at 8 pm
in the English United
Presbyterian Church, West
Market Street, Marietta.
Robert Hiestand will
serve as Director for the
musical. \
Persons over sixteen who
like to sing are invited to
participate.
Last week to enter your
child in King and Queen
Sweetheart contest
Friday, January 25, is the
last day that photographs
are being accepted to enter
your child in the Annual
Mount Joy Sweetheart King
and Queen Contest. Deliver
or mail your photo to Mrs.
Alan Swanson, Box 559,
Barbara Circle, Donegal
Heights, Mount Joy.
Children between the
ages of nine months and
three years, whose parents
have a Mount Joy mailing
address, are eligible.
The contest begins Jan-
uary 28 when local residents
begin to vote for their
favorite child by placing
money in cannisters next to
the pictures. Relatives and
friends are urged to look for
their child's pictures at
these local businesses: Un-
ion National Bank, Sloan’s
Pharmacy, Stehman’s IGA,
Hostetter’s Hardware and
Pennsupreme.
The contest will close at 7
pm on February 8 when the
money will be collected and
taken to the bank, where it
will be counted by a bank
teller.
The names of the winners
will be revealed at ceremon-
ies on Saturday, February 9,
10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran
Church.
Proceeds from the contest
will be donated to the
Donegal Dental Clinic and
the Mount Joy Library.

BPW meeting Jan. 28
Jill McVey, from the
Lancaster County Office for.
Children and Youth, will be
the speaker for the January
28 meeting of the Mount Joy
Business and Professional
Women’s Club at Hostetters
Banquet Hall.
“Helping Children—Le-
gally, Socially, Morally”’ is
the subject of the discussion

Forest Fire
Crew
The Elizabethtown-Mount
Joy Forest Fire Crew held
their monthly meeting re-
cently. It was decided at the
meeting to hold the Crew’s
12th Anniversary Banquet
on Saturday evening, March
8, at the Rheems Fire Hall.
The dinner will be turkey
served family style.
This Banquet, which in-
cludes the meal and enter-
tainment, is open to the
public. Anyone wishing to
make reservations should do
so as early as possible, as a
“full house’’ is reserved
each year.
The Banquet begins at
6:30 pm. Tickets are $5.50
per adult and $4.25 for
children under 10.
A dance, to the music of
the Harrisburg band ‘After
Dark’’, will be held from
10:00 pm to 1:00 am. The
cost is $1.00 extra per adult
for the dance. Reservations
can be made by phoning
653-2130 or by contacting
any of the crew members.

Rodney Eshleman and
Annette Bailey have been
voted boy and girl of the
month for room #50 at ~
the Riverview Elementary
School.
Rodney is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Eshleman,
328 E. Walnut Street,
Marietta. He is a good
citizen, cares for his dog and
assists with work on a farm.
He helps his father with
tools, is a good sport on the
play ground, playing fair
