Zoo Orders for the Girl Scout trip to Washington Zoo cookics will begin January 12. Junior Girl Scout Troop 32 enjoys customs of a German Christmas Junior Girl Scout Troop #32, Mount Joy, Donegal Neighborhood, celebrated a German Christmas recently. Sixth graders Annette Zim- merman, Beth Reymer, Linda Eby, Melissa Camp- bell, Tammie Lowe, Kristine Brown and Melissa Houck explained the customs of a German Christmas through songs, poems, skits and treats. The scouts explained the Advent calendar, wreath, treat plates (a plate filled with goodies such as apples, oranges, candy, nuts, cook- ies and Marzipan-German candy), and the custom of putting a shoe in the window on December 6 through 24. Children put the shoe in their window every night and, if they were good, they would receive treats in the shoe. The girls in Troop #32 had refreshments, sang carols and exchanged gifts. Their Christmas tree was decor- ated with goodies to eat. In Germany people come to visit and admire the Christ- mas tree and are then allowed to take a treat from the tree. Nancy Kopf and Ella Gainer, leaders of the troop, would like to thank Miss Anne Zimmerman, Mrs. Linda Campbell and Mrs. Nancy Reymer for their service to the troop. Girls who participated in the German Christmas act- ivities were; Greta Brenner, Stephanie Hager, Michele Eisenhauer, Laurie Ruth, Andrea Kerchner, Heather Nonnemacher, Jody Brown, Sharon Nissley, Stephanie Ricedorf, Donna Yingst, Beth Brown, Sarah Harnish, Stacey Germer, Amy Camp- bell, Melissa Houck, Linda Eby, Melissa Campbell, Annctte Zimmerman, Krist- ine Brown, Tammie Loew, Beth Reymer, Lisa Richards and Libby Byers. fos be i i RR, if REE i
