Eshleman received his Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor held by Boy Scout Troop 63 of Mount Joy. Gary, 17, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Eshleman of Mount Joy. He has been in Scouting for nearly ten years, starting his career in Cub Scouting. Gary has served his Troop in the offices of Quarter- master, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, In- structor, and is currently serving as Jr. Assistant Scoutmaster. In 1978 Gary Received Learn how to write at The People’s Place Writing for Children, Writing Your Memories, and How to Get Published will be three of the featured workshops at the Third Annual Writer's Conference sponsored by The People’s Place. The Conference begins at 7:15pm. on Friday, January 18th and continues all day] and evening thru Saturday, January 19th. The three instructors are Katie Funk Wiebe, Lorne Peachey, and Barbara Claassen Smucker. Registration for the Con- ference is limited to 80 persons to insure personal interaction. Merle and Chiques AAA basketball Four games were played this past week in the Chiques AAA Basketball League. On December 10th the Bucs defeated the Sixers 87-68, and the Bullets beat the Sonics 76-66. On December 13th, the Bullets overcame the Sixers 86-54 and the Bucs beat the Sonics 100-96, with that game going into overtime. The current standings’ are: Team W. L. Gary is a member of the Mount Joy Church of God and for his Eagle Scout Service project he helped make improvements and did volunteer service for his church.
