Shellenberger of Mount Joy is the owner and breeder of Shelmar-Acres Venus-ET, a young bull that has been chosen to enter the Select Sires Program for Genetic Advancement sire sampling procedures. Be- cause of his outstanding pedigree, Venus-ET is one of only 90 Holsteins in the state to enter this program. His dam, Shelmar-Acres Tidy Lone, has set records for milk and fat production. His sire, Hillhaven Stand- out Job, has a Predicted Difference of +1007 pounds of milk with a repeatability of 88%. Gerald Erb, of RD3 Mount Joy, spoke at the first of a nationwide series of public discussions on the future of agriculture in Montpelier, New York, on Nov. 26th. Secretary of Agriculture Bob Bergland chaired the meeting, at which 20 farmers spoke for five minutes each. Navy Seaman Recruit Jay Schatz, the son of Richard C. and Nancy L. Schatz of RD2 Mount Joy, has completed basic training at the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Conn. During the six-week course, Recruit Schatz learned about nuclear and diesal-powered submarines. He is a 1979 graduate of Donegal High School. §§8§ Renee Sager wed to Ray Henry The marriage of Miss Renee D. Sager to Mr. Ray E. Henry took place on Thursday, Nov. 22, at 7pm, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Bainbridge. The Rev. Russell Burr officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav A. Sager, Elizabethtown RDI. She is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and the Mount Joy Vo-Tech School. She is employed by AMP, Inc., Elizabethtown. The groom is the son of Mrs. Sylvia M. Henry, 38 N. Gay Street, Marietta. He is a graduate of Donegal High School and the Mount Joy Vo-Tech School. He is employed by Motor Truck Equipment Co. Mrs. Sandra Ober, sister of the bride, Mount Joy, was the matron of honor. Brides- maids were Rochelle Sager, sister of the bride, Eliza- bethtown, and Kim Nace, Columbia. Donna Geib of Lititz was the flower girl. Ringbearer was Mark Babec of Lancas- ter. Serving as best man was Randy Ernest of Columbia. Ushers were Mike Moyer, Marietta, and Bill Heffner, Pioneer Fire Co. luncheon on Dec. 2 Members of the Pioneer Fire Company #1, Marietta, will hold a luncheon on December 2nd, from noon to 6pm. Mt. Joy Library sponsors puppet show On Saturday, Dec. Ist, the Mount Joy Library will present a puppet show for the children of the commun- ity. Petunia’s Christmas will be presented at 10:00 and at 10:30 as part or our birthday and Christmas celebration with our patrons. The show is the story of Dr. Wenger speaks to farm women; party planned Farm Women's Society #8 met at the home of Patsy Warfel on West Main Street, Mount Joy, on Saturday, Nov. 17th, at 2:00pm. Kathryn Heisey, the Society President, was in charge. Ruth Musser led the ladies as they sang, “*Come Ye Thankful People Come.’' Devotional time followed as she gave thoughts on Thanksgiving. A portion of Psalms 95 was read. Mary Grace Martin, Secretary, took the roll call and read the minutes. Nineteen members respond- ed by mentioning some activity they had performed the morning prior to the meeting. Elizabeth Shuman gave the Treasurer's report.
