Stevenus of Penn Court Dr., Mount Joy, recently was assigned as an auto mechanic with the 44th Air Defense Artillery in Korea. He joined the Army in 1973. §8§ R. Lamar Witmer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Luke Witmer of 4580 Miller Dr., Mount Joy, has been awarded a $350 freshman scholarhship from Eastern Mennonite College. Scholarship requirements inlcude a 3.0 grade average, a score of 1.000 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and ranking in the top ten per cent of the high school class. Witmer is a bio/ag major. §§§ Airman Kurt Wagemann 111, son of Kurt Wagemann, Jr., of Mount Joy, has been assigned to Chanute AFB, Ill., after completing basic training. §§§ The Joseph Bucher House at 104 E. Front Street, Marietta, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1806, and is now owned by Gene G. and Oliver C. Cohen. The 2'2-story brick house has an open staircase, and a recessed front door flanked by the original sidelights, and topped by a fan window. §8§ Four members of the Har- mantziz family of Mount Joy, who come from Greece, have been naturalized as American citizens. They are: Kaliopi Georgios, 19; Maris Georgios, 21; An- dreas Georgios, 22; and George Andreas, S52. §8§ Also naturalized were these Mount Joy, and now American, citizens: Curt Linauer, 30, of 763 Hilltop Drive, originally from Bra- zil; and Yong Hui Linauer, 28, of the same address, originally from Korea. Mr. and Mrs. Paul McKain McKains’ Golden Sun. The 50th wedding anni- versary of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McKain, of 618 W. Market St., Marietta, was celebrated with a drop-in party at the English United Presbyterian Church, which was hosted by the McKains’ children. They were married by the late Rev. Edward Hayes in Cententary Methodist Church in Westminster, Maryland, on October 26, 1929. ‘ Mrs. McKain, the former Ruth Sharp, is the daughter of Aaron Sharp and the late Pauline Kibler Sharp. Paul is the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Bolander McKain. : These Marietta natives have been members of the Presbyterian Church all of their lives. Ruth, who has many plants in her home, was formerly employed by the Marietta Silk Co. Paul is retired from the Olmstead Air Force Depot in Marietta. He takes great pleasure in his garden. The McKains are mem- bers of the Marietta Senior League, and Ruth is a member of the Marietta Auxiliary to the Columbia Hospital. Their four children are: Betty, the wife of William Bitzer, Mount Joy; Janet, the wife of Sam Ney, Maytown; Evelyn, the wife of George Armold, Mari- etta; and Robert, who lives in Pennsacola, Florida. - Ruth and Paul have 11 grandchildren and a great- grandchild. SUSQUEHANNA TIMES—Page 3 Marietta Lions hear Morse on Columbia Rollin Morse of Columbia was the guest speaker for the Marietta Lions Club when they met for dinner at the Colonial Inn. Mr. Morse is a member of the Columbia Historical Society. He show- ed the Lions his slides of Columbia’s historic struc- tures and talked about restoration. President Bob Spangler conducted the business meeting. The club voted to sponsor the annual Christ- mas’ - lighting program. Richard Smedley will chair the program this year. The Marietta Jaycees will assist the Lions. The lights should be up for the tour on December 2. " The Lions also voted to help the Marietta Restora- Girl Scout meeting Nov. § The Donegal Neighbor- hood of Girl Scouts meeting for leaders, assistant lead- ers and adults will be held on Monday, Nov. Sth, at 8:00pm in St. Luke’s Epis- copal Church at 211 S. Market St., Mount Joy. A special invitation to Day Camp staff is extended. Slides of Day Camp activi- ties will be shown. Sr. League to meet Nov. § e Marietta Senior League will hold their regular monthly meeting at the Community House at 1:30 on Nov. Sth. Mary Portner, president, will conduct the business meeting. There will be a program of flower art. The refund of the Boat Trip will be made to all who had purchased tickets. Be sure to be there, in order to get yours. Halloween Parade The Marietta Jaycees sponsored their annual Hal- loween Parade Monday night.
