Joe Lively and Clara Newcomer
meeting; hear Vera Cox on Donegal in Ireland
Farm Women Society #8
held their monthly meeting
at the home of Anna
Keener, E-town RDI, on
Oct. 20th at 2:00pm.
Kathryn Heisey, presi-
dent, was in charge. Ruth
Musser led the group as
they sang ‘‘Come Thou Al-
mighty King.”” Ruth Eby
had charge of devotional
time. She gave thoughts on
the beauty and splendor of
autumn, and a poem by
George Cooper on God’s
handiwork. Her final
thought was taken from
Eccl. 3:1 where reference is
made to a season for each
event.
Twenty-one members re-
sponded to Roll Call taken
by secretary Mary Grace
Martin. Minutes were also
read. Two visitors were
present.
There were several mo-
ments in quiet respect as all
remembered a member,
Anna Wolgemuth, who
passed away recently.
The treasurer’s report
was given by Elizabeth
Shuman. Seven members
went to the General Hospital
to sew early in October:
Kathryn Erb, Anna Mae
Derr, Sylvia Warfel, Flor-
ence Musser, Vera Frey,
Elizabeth Shuman and Ruth
Felty.
Kelly Keener, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Keener, entertained the
ladies with two piano
selections: Sonatina and
Tarantelle.
The special feature of the
afternoon was a slide pre-
sentation entitled, ‘‘The
Other Donegal,” by Vera
Cox. She enjoyed seeing
Donegal in Ireland while on
a trip with friends. She
showed pictures of scenery
and special locations of
interest. Cottages with
thatched roofs were beauti-
ful. The Lake of Killarney,
Blarney Castle, Stone
Church and roof and woolen
mills were included. The
Mount Joy Castle was seen
and the name Rapho also
appeared along the way.
The social time followed
an all enjoyed the tasty
refreshments. Hostesses
were Anna Keener, Ruth
Eby, Georgianna Forney
and Mary Grace Martin.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Patsy
Warfel, 812 West Main
Street, Mount Joy, on Nov.
17th, at 2:00pm. Dr. Calvin
Wenger from Lancaster will
be the speaker.
