Charles Reynolds, executive secretary
of medical college in India, to speak
t Donegal Presbyterian
Charles Reynolds, execu-
tive secretary of the Ludhia-
na Christian Medical Col-
lege board since 1965, will
be the speaker at the
Summer medical missions
meeting at Donegal Presby-
terian Church following a
family covered-dish supper,
Monday, July 16, at 6 p.m.
Ludhiana, one of the
major medical institutions of
India, has been a Donegal
mission interest for some
years. The 700-bed hospital
trains more than 300 doctors
and 200 nurses annually,
and treats 350,000 patients.
Dr. Reynolds, a native of
Belfast, Ireland, served in
the Royal Air Force 1941-46,
and while in the India-Bur-
ma theater, met and
married an American mis-
sionary, Maud M. Hibbard.
They served as missionaries
for three years in an isolated
jungle district of central
India. An ordained minister
of the United Methodist
Church, he has written and
directed two documentary
films, published two books,
and written numerous mag-
azine articles.
Dr. Reynolds has visited
India annually since 1965,
and maintained close relat-
ionships with government,
church, and business lead-
ers there, and is thus able to
interpret the current Indian
scene. He annually takes a
tour group to visit medical
mission centers in India.
During the Monday pro-
gram, overseas sewing com-
pleted by the Women’s
Association of the church
will be dedicated by Mrs.
James Hindman. Mrs. Jay
Heisey is in charge of
devotions. Hostesses will be
Mrs. Jeffrey Brian, Mrs.
Robert Dunkelberger and
Mrs. Rollin Steinmetz.
