He earned a B.S. in biology. Joe Kauffman and Renee Kinsey have been voted Boy and Girl of the Month at room S50, Riverview Schoal. Joe is the son of Mrs. Janice Kauffman of 403 E. Market Street, Marietta. Renee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kinsey of 146 Eleanor Drive, Maytown. §§§ §§§ Mr. and Mrs. John S. Hiestand of Maytown at- tended a service at presi- dent Carter’s church in Washington recently. They called the First Baptist Church of Washing- ton beforehand to find out if they needed reservations to attend the president’s church. None were needed, and they went to Sunday worship there. Mr. Hiestand (who is a president himself—of Farmers First Bank) and his wife ended up seated two pews and one isle from Carter and no less than eight Secret Service men. Jimmy shook hands with both of the Hiestands after the service. The Hiestands missed President Carter’s adult Sunday School class. He didn’t teach it that day. The guest preacher that day was Dr. Coffin of the Riverside Church in New York. A note on the program stated: ‘‘The audience will remain seated while the President and his company retire and organ postlude begins.”’ §§8§ David E. Greer, 443 Revere Road, Lancaster,’ who is the son of Ad Greer of Maytown, was recently elected to the board of directors of the Lancaster County Chapter of the American Red Cross. A graduate of Gettysburg College and the Mercer University Law School, he is a partner in the law firm of Herr, Kirchner, Greer and Herr. §§§ Ethel (Mrs. Warren) Foley of Mount Joy has been appointed to chair the Nominating Committee and Property Development Task Group of the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council. River St., Maytown, Pa., has been meritoriously promoted to his present rank while serving with 3d Force Service Support Group, based on Okinawa. He received the acceler- ated promotion in recogni-' tion of outstanding perfor- mance, duty proficiency and demonstrated professional abilities. A 1976 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School, Elizabethtown, Pa., he joined the Marine Corps in August 1976. §§§ §8§ Doris Marie Saylor, a junior at Donegal High School, was awarded the Rensselaer Medal for excel- lence in mathematics and science at a recent school assembly. This award is presented annually to an outstanding student.
