Phone 653-2328 . Edward J. Reich Reich to speak at Marietta Alumni banquet Edward J. Reich will be the speaker at the annual Alumni Association dinner banquet on Saturday, June 9th. The event will be held at Mr. Lacy’s Lounge near Marietta, starting at 6:00 PM. Mr. Reich, a 1933 graduate of Marietta High School, is a retired civilian press relations officer for the Defense Department. He began his newspaper career as a sports writer with the Washington, DC Herald in 1933. In 1938 he entered the public relations field as director of public relations for Georgetown University. Mr. Reich was also the Washington press repre- sentative for various sports events. RAY 4 ‘“s He served as a Navy combat correspondent in the Pacific during World War Two, and, after the war, joined the Defense Depart- ment. He worked in Germany, Chicago, Wash- ington and Hawaii. Mr. Reich now lives in Asheville, NC. He is married to the former Willadeen Ericson. They have two daughters and a son. As a retiree, he divides his time between golf and free-lance writing. Albert Dettinger will serve as master of cere- monies for the alumni dinner. He is a member of the class of 1936. Guests of honor will be members of the classes of 1929 and 1954 (having graduated S0 and 25 years ago respectively). Jenkins presents piano recital George Jenkins presented a piano recital last Sunday at the Bethel AME Church in Marietta. He is the son of Mrs. Jean Becton of Marietta and the late George M, Jenkins. He is a recent graduate of Donegal High School and Lancaster Bible College. George attends Congre- gational Bible Church, where he is active in the college career fellowship. He plans to attend graduate school after working for a year. He performed works by Beethoven, Debussy and Chopin.
