The all-day benefit event will start at 10 AM with a baby parade. The theme this year is Superheroes of the Universe, Yesterday, Today and Tommorow. Registration for the baby parade starts at 9:30. Everyone who enters will get script spendable at the fair. The parade will start at 10 AM at the square. Parade chairpeople are Claudia Sload, Teri Ibaugh, and Teresa Mateer. General chairpeople are Donna Loucks and Lynn Gohn. The W.I. Beahm Juniot High band will play as the 17 candidates for King and Queen of the Fair march in the baby parade. Right after the baby parade will be the pet parade, taking the same route from the square to the S-bend and back again. Top dogs and other beasts will get prizes. Proceeds from the fair will go toward supervised sum- mer playground at Memor- ial Park. The fair is sponsored by the Marietta Recreation Association. Officers of the group are Antoinette Allum, Pete Osborne of Mount Joy in the IGAF flagship Children’s Fair president; Karen Roberts, secretary; - Katy Carroll, treasurer; Jay Roberts, playground chairman; and Betty Pittenturf, Vivian Carroll, Hazel Baker, and Antoinette Allum, executive committee. In order to arrange for - a 12 foot frontage space for a ($S donation) contact: David Morrison 285-3645 or Char- les Loucks 426-3001. On Saturday has been added the Bake Sale and Chicken Corn Soup Day. Bake sale contributions will be most welcome. To pledge an item contact Harvey Reem at 426-1008. Bring own containers for soup. There are still openings for organizations or groups who would want to set up a carnival stand for the three day event. Arrangements for a non food stand can be made with Charles Loucks or Dave Morrison by June 13th. The Marietta Jaycees would appreciate any volun- teers from the community interested in assisting in this annual event contacting Charles Loucks, Harvey Reem. or William Wolfe to better plan the set-up of scheduling and stands, further plans will be made through out June as regular meetings are held June 6 and 20. Day honored by ex-players by Georgianne McCue Reminiscing was the or- der of the evening on Saturday, June 2, 1979, when the soccer, basketball, and baseball teams of 1947 through 1954 of Mount Joy High School honored their coach, John D. Day, III, on his retirement from 32 years of teaching and 8 years of coaching. The event was held at Hostetter’s Banquet Hall, with 10S players, cheerleaders, and spouses attending. George McCue was mas- ter of ceremonies. Bob Divit led group singing of some of the old songs sang on team buses. Ted Williams pre- sented Mr. Day with cards and notes from well-wishers [continued on page 12]
