Or send in the coupon below. Obituary RICHARD L. PARSONS Richard L. Parsons, 61, formerly of Mount Joy, died last week at Wilkes-Barre Veterans Medical Center after an illness of six months. He was the widower of Myrtle Husler Parsons, who died in 1970. He was retired from the former Ray-Mar Corpora- tion in Manheim. A veteran of World War Two, Parsons was a charter member of the Mount Joy VFW Post 5752. He was born in Mount Joy, a son of Blanch Bailey Parsons of Mount Joy and May 30, 1979 the late Richard T. Parsons. Surviving him, besides his mother, are two sons, Richard L., Jr., of Mount Joy, and James L. of Mid- dletown; and two grand- children. Six Donegal High students win Vo-Tech awards Six Donegal High stu- dents at the Mount Joy Vo-Tech school were among ~the 24 at the Vo-Tech who received awards from local businesses at the annual yd awards day ceremony. They are: Kevin Herr, who received a multimeter for outstand- ing appliance repair from McCombs Supply Co., Inc.: Business and Professional Women meet The Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club heard songs by Andante and the results of a citizenship poll at Seiler Elementary School at their last meeting. Diane Rice, chairwoman of the Civic Participation Committee, reported on the sometimes humorous an- swers that Seiler students had given when asked what a good citizen is. Miss Rice conducted the poll herself. Andante (composed of the Zimmerman sisters) sang a number of selections. Their appearance also was arrang- ed by the Civic Participation Committee. Mrs. Pat Enos conducted the business session in the absence of the president. The various committees presented the annual re- ports. 77 club members took part in the local caneer drive. It was announced that the Board of Directors will meet at the home of the president on June 11th at 7:30 PM. Patricia Shearer and Diane Rice are delegates to the state convention. Carol Lambert is chairing the annual production at the Fulton, sponsored by Dis- trict 7, on August 14th. Officers will be installed on the 25th at Hostetter’s. Boat Club Chicken Bar-B-Q The East Donegal Boat Club will hold a chicken barbeque on June 2nd at noon. Members and their famil- ies are invited. Bring your own covered dish and utensils. Mrs. Forney spoke on welfare fraud and the steps being taken to stop it. Mrs. Kathryn Erb presid- ed over the business session and Mrs. Alice Myers talked about friendship. The roll call response was on green thumbs. The treasurer’s report, in the absence of treasurer Elizabeth Shuman, was read by Grace Bixler. Ruth Lowell Heisey, $25 and an engraved plate from the American Welding Society, and a gift certificate from the Welding Craft Commit- tee; Larry Musser, certificate and medal from DeKalb Agricultural Research, Inc., for agricultural proficiency; and Clyde Bitner, a $25 savings bond for most significant progress in welding, from Heil Co. Farm Women hear about welfare fraud Musser read the correspon- dence and a report on the spring rally at E-town College. 1300 Farm Women attended that rally. At the request of Inter- national 4-H “Youth Ex- change, the Farm Women will sponsor a trip to Japan by Christine Erb. They contributed $50. Miss Erb will report on her exper- iences when she returns. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Evelyn Russell, Miss Ruth Eby, Mrs. Alice Myers and Mrs. Wivell.
