Marietta Boro Council
approved at its Tuesday
night session, the proposed
plans for the Union Meeting
House. Presented by Gene
Aeachey, a representative of
deVitry, Gilbert and Brad-
ley, architects for the
project, the plans include
rehabilitation of the Union
Meeting House, specifica-
tions, working drawings,
site plan showing improve-
ments, floor plans for first
and second stories, details
of windows and which ones
will be replaced.
$103,000 has been allo-
cated by the Lancaster
County Redevelopment Au-
thority which will also
approve the plans of the
project. The Marietta Rest-
oration Associates as well as
the Federal Government is
expected to approve the
project.
Five dead trees will be
removed from Memorial
Park and 9 mercury globes
will be replaced in the nite
lights. Existing trees will be
mulched and wires for
protection from mowers
placed around them.
Parking on the West side
only of Clay Street signs will
be installed and no parking
signs will be placed on
Hazel Avenue in that area.
Marietta Bore’s liquid
fuel tax allocation of $2785
will be forwarded upon
completion of work in that
amount. The monies will be
used in general mainten-
ance of streets, cleaning
streets, mowing grass, etc.
A projected plan for street
repairs is in the process of
being formulated with Mul-
berry Street earmarked as
the first project this season;
additional streets, which
may not be in rotation are:
Gay-Fairview to Longen-
ecker; Biddle-Market to
Essex; South Waterford
Ave; and possibly Pine
Street. A committee of Dave
White, Jay Roberts and
John Reuter will investigate
East Donegal Supervisors
E. Donegal Township
Supervisors, at its Thursday
night session, approved the
planning commissions re-
commendation to rezone
72'2 acres or a portion of the
Harold Frey farm from
residential-1 to Agriculture.
The land borders Coffee
Goss Road. A public hearing
will be scheduled as a
routine procedure prior to
the final act. .
John Hiestand, repre-
senting the Maytown Water
Authority, read a letter he
prepared to apply for a state
grant for funds to obtain a
test well on the Frank Singer
property for expanding the
local water supply. The
Supervisors signed the ap-
plication.
The Supervisors, John H,
Brubaker, President; Lloyd
H. Fuhrman, Secretary and
Road Supervisor; and Har-
old Drager have purchased a
tree, planted in the Rock
Point Park in memory of the
late James Johnson who
served as a member of the
township Board for 35 years.
Johnson died in '77 at age
69.
In recalling his dedication
Johnson carried for his
community, Fuhrman stated
‘he contributed in a large
way to make this community
a better place to live.’ He
was always interested in the
welfare and financial status

the possibility of a Federal
grant to develope Front
Street area.
Reinspections have begun
on rental units council was
informed and only a few
landlords have not complied
to requirements. A $10 fee
is charged to lift a one years
permit on rental units.
A CETA worker has been
approved to assist in the
Police - Department. The
second cruiser will be placed
in action when two officers
are on duty.

those Front Street residents
who mow grass opposite
their homes.

on 22 calls during the month
of April and 6S total runs for
the Ist quarter of '79. The
Maytown Fire Co. respond-
ed to 10 emergency fire
calls.
Members of the Park
Commission expressed gra-
titude to the Supervisors for
purchasing 10 trees for the
Rock Point Park.

Marijane Sager to Charles
Daniel Hess took place
Saturday, May 12, at 6PM at
the St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Maytown,
with the Rev. Robert
Lescallette officiating.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Walter G.
Sager, Marietta R1. She
graduated from Donegal
High School and the St.
Joseph Hospital School of
Nursing. She is employed by
Columbia Hospital.
The bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A.
Hess, 662 Essex St.,
Marietta. He graduated
from Donegal High School
and served in the U.S. Navy
for six years. He is
employed by Armstrong
Cork Co., Marietta ceiling
plant.
Miss Vicki M. Herr, Lititz
R3, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were: Mrs.
Diane Sterner, Red Lion:
Mrs. Lucinda Roush, sister
of the bridegroom, Eliza-
bethtown; and Mrs. Marga-
ret Warner, Mountville.
Flower girl was Miss
Heather Penwell, Marietta.
Scott Carl, Elizabethtown
R3, was ringbearer.
Serving as best man was
Michael Millar, Marietta.
Ushers were: John Miller,
Marietta; James Roush,
Elizabethtown; and Craig
Hess, brother of the bride-
groom, Marietta.
The couple will live in
Mount Joy.

The May meeting of the
Maytown East Donegal
Twp. Ambulance Assoc.
was called to order by Vice
President Charlie Shaffner.
Jack Doutrich reported the
ambulance responded to 22
calls in April, 9 emergency;
3 auto accidents; 1 fire call;
I routine transport for
Maytown; 1 routine for
Elizabethtown; 1 routine
transport for Rheems; 1
routine transport for Mount
Joy; 3 routine transports for
Columbia; 1 standby for
Rheems; 1 standby for TMI;
for a total of 464 miles
traveled.
The ambulance assoc. is
planning a busy memorial
weekend. Saturday we will
have the drink stand and 2
children stands at the
Maytown Fireman's Carni-
val. Monday at 10 AM: the
ambulance will be at the
Square taking blood pres-
sures. There will also be a
bake sale at the ambulance;
any food donations would be
greatly appreciated. The
ambulance will be in the
parade then return to the
fire house to take part in
Monday's fireman carnival.
June 9th a chicken
bar-b-que by Harlan Miller
will be at the fire house.
Beginning at 11 AM till 6
PM. Tickets can be pur-
chased from any member or
call 426-2108.

and accepted by Sam
Yorker.
At the end of the meeting
a first aid training film was
shown. The next meeting
will be the first Thursday in
June. Anyone interested
in a rewarding, challenging
job is welcome to attend.
