Page 6 — SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Leisure Club to hold auction The Mount Joy Leisure Club’s next meeting will be Monday May 14 at Hostet- ter’s. The meeting will begin at 12:00 noon with coffee and cake served, followed by a short business meeting. The main event will be an auction and the members are asked to bring an unwrapped article or articles which will be auctioned. This is a money- making project for the organization and all articles are to be donated to the Leisure Club. Hostesses for this meet- ing are Edna Brubaker, Alice Bryan, Marie Evans, Hettie Ginder, Romaine Good, Eva Groff, Mable Kaylor, Rhoda Kaylor, Fran Little and Beatrice Wagner. Greeters will be Mabel Andrews and Hettie Ginder. ur The April meeting was a fashion show with the following ladies participat- ing: Marie Evans, Almeda Hostetter, Ruth Brandt, Bertha Foreman, Belle Ludwig, Nera Eby, Fern Levan, Florence Burris, Elsie Bentzel, Ruth Hall, Eva Groff, Esther Weaver, Maude Frey, Teressa Heisey, Romaine Good and Grace Shaeffer, who was the May 9, 1979 narrator, and a newspaper Memorial Day in Mount J oy correspondent, Sharon Brown, participated. The fashion show was a success, and without a doubt dif- ferent. Added to the program and in keeping witht the Easter season, Jay Sherk sang a solo, The Stranger Of Galilee accompanied by Nellie Vogel. A total of 115 attended the meeting. —Jos. UTS United Telephone System Memorial Day in Mount Joy will include memorial services, the parade, the opening of the swimming pool, the Community Carni- val, a girls’ softball tourna- ment, and a demonstration of maneuvers by the Air Force Honor Drill Team. The Mount Joy Commun- ity Council, which is spon- soring all these events, is asking for your help in the form of donations. Strawberry Festival The annual Strawberry Festival on the grounds of the historic Haldeman Man- sion, located off Rte. 441, one half mile north of Bain- bridge, will take place on Sunday, June 10th, between 2:00 and 7:00 PM. Entertainment will be provided by Zimmy Schmidt's German Band. Tickets will be sold at the event. —Sonia Forry Chicken pot pie The Ladies Aux. of Mount Joy Fire Co. #1 will have a Chicken Potpie sale on May 8th at the firehall, around 12 noon. Cost is $1.25 a quart and $.6S a pint. Please bring own containers. Potpie will also be served at the firehall. : Next meeting is May 17th at 7PM. Mrs. Geri Williams Auxiliary to meet The Marietta Auxiliary to the Columbia Hospital will meet at the home of Mrs. Ralph Miller III, Fairview Ave., Marietta, on Monday, May 14, at 1:30 PM. Mrs. Thomas Moran and Mrs. Betty Katzen will be hostesses. Summer volleyball The Chiques Adult Athle- tic Association is sponsoring a summer volleyball league. Games will be played on Wednesday evenings from 6-8PM., beginning June 13. Persons 18 years or older, living within a 10 mile driving distance of Marietta are eligible to play.
