Mariner has been announced by her mother, Velleta Randall, of Sharon, PA. She is the daughter of the late Earl Randall. Geoffrey Mariner is a graduate of Donegal High School and Penn State, where he earned a degree in physics. He also has degree from Michigan State, and is now working on a doctorate in solid state physics at Penn State. He is the son of Thomas Mariner, formerly of Mount Joy, and the late Marion Mariner. Mr. Mariner lived here for 30 years. The bride-to-be, a grad- uate of Sharon High School, graduated magna cum laude from Baldwin Wallace College, Berea, Ohio, with a B.S. in physics. She earned a master’s degree from Penn State, and is employed as an engineer by Offshore Power Systems, Jackson- ville, Florida. Maytown Fire Co. report The Maytown-East Don- egal Fire Company answer- ed six emergency calls in February, attended one controlled burning, and reported no property damage for the month. Residents of East Done- . gal Township should be aware of the annual testing and flushing of the fire hydrants coming up on April 2nd. The tests may cause a temporary reduc- tion of water pressure. ..Auxiliary card party The Maytown Fire Com- pany Auxiliary will hold a pinochle card party at 8:00 PM on Friday the 16th at the fire hall. Admission charge of $1.00 buys both food and a chance at a prize. Sauerkraut supper at Chiques U.M. Church There will be a sauer- kraut supper at the Chiques United Methodist Church, Route 230 east of Mount Joy, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 24. The profits from the supper will go toward the new organ recently purchased for the church. Reservations are a must. DENNIS GROSS « WINS 2ND PLACE Dennis Gross, of North Chestnut Street, Marietta, won 2nd place among 83 entries in the ‘‘Sport of Wheels’’ show held last week at Park City. Dennis’s new sprint car was judged by a panel of journalists who covered the show, picking among the dune buggies, hot rod tractors, and other vehicles the ones they thought the best in terms of appearance and workmanship. Dennis started working on the car in October of 1977, and says it is now “95 percent complete.’ . Loose, Done- gal High history teacher, was presented with the Freedom and American Way of Living Award by the Lancaster Sertoma Club.
