Shown above is Mrs. Margaret Garber’s 1st grade
class at Maytown School, along with their tadpoles. The
tadpoles are in the plastic tanks on the desks.
The class has raised the tads from frog eggs as a
science project. The kids are keeping day-by-day
records of the tadpoles’ growth, and watching their
habits through magnifying glasses.
Only spring water can be used in the tanks, according
to Mrs. Garber. Ordinary tap water kills the creatures.
The kids are: standing, left to right—Brian Hall,
Janis Charles, Michael Bixler, Tammy Flowers, Jenny
Fready, and Jeff Fisher; seated [I-r] are—Todd Allen,
Jane Endslow, Shawn Englert, Scott Mumma, Christy

Underwear
Were you cold? Here's
something to keep in mind
} for next winter—long
f underwear.
Long johns come in
various styles, including
the old-fashioned union
suits, sometimes called
‘‘passion Kkillers.”” You can
still get them in fire-engine
red. Most types are like
pyjamas, in two pieces.
Ladies can buy ‘‘snug-
gies,”’ which won’t make
you look fat.
Energy-concious Ameri-
cans have been buying long
underwear in record quan-
tities during the last few
§ years of lowered thermo:
stats and winter sports
popularity.
