ABW A meeting The Mount Joy Char- ter of the ABWA (Ameri- can Business Women’s Association) held its regu- lar monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 1979, at the Lincoln Restaurant, East Main Street, Mount Joy. It was reported by the Education Committee that very little response is being received concerning the scholarship awards being awarded by the Mount Joy ABWA. In order to be eligible for the scholar- ships, you must be a female from the Mount Joy . or surrounding area. The scholarships are for col- leges, universities or voca- tional or technical schools. Anyone knowing of anyone needing a scholarship or wishing more information, please contact Marie Snell at 653-2662. The speaker for the evening was Mr. J. Fred Sener who is the Senior Estate Planning Officer at Fulton Bank. Mr. Sener spoke on the subject of estate planning. Local Realtors Vocational speaker was Jan Marie Groff who is an Executive Secretary in the Trust Department of Fulton Bank. The following upcoming projects were discussed— the spring fashion show scheduled for March 27th, Boss and Business Asso- ciate Night scheduled for April 23rd, Woman of the Year and the Spring Enrollment Event. Installation cermonies were held for one new member, Jean Morris. It was noted.:that February is Citizenship: Month. The speaker for the business meeting will be Joyce Shank of the Lan- caster Charter Chapter of ABWA. Vocational speaker for the evening will be Mary Ann Strickler. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 1979 at 6:30 PM. The meeting place will be announced at a later time. All three are affiliated with Century 21 Jack Johnson in Columbia. i 3... 3USQUEHANNA TIMES—Page 5 Maytown Ambulance The February meeting of the Maytown Ambulance was held on Thursday, February 1st. Crew chief Jack Doutrich reported that . the ambulance responded to 11 calls in January. A yearly report was also given. A total of 140 calls were made: 15 were auto accidents; 45 were other emergencies; there were 10 emergency cover calls for Marietta, 2 for Mount Joy, 3 to Bainbridge, and 2 emergency assists for Co- lumbia. 3 emergency standbys and fire calls were per- formed. There were 21 routine calls. In addition, there were 2 search parties, a drill held at Cargill, and a standby at the Maytown picnic. A totalof 3,740 miles were driven. It was decided to hold ‘‘Spring Bingo Nite’’ on Friday, March 23rd, at 7:00 PM. The tickets will cost $10.00, with additional cards on sale that night. There will be a guaranteed jackpot. Harlan Miller has con- firmed June 9th and Sep- tember 29th as chicken barbeque dates. East Donegal Township has given permission for the ambulance to hold their flea market on September 29th on East High Street. A new billing has gone into effect as of February 1st: $35 for transport, SO cents per mile additional charge for mileage over S0 miles. The week of March 3-10 has been set aside for the ambulance to canvass the Maytown-Township area Doggie Deadline Dog law officers will be making field checks in the next few weeks, looking for untagged dogs. Errant owners will be fined. Openings in Dog licenses can be bought in Marietta from Ray Sell, in Mount Joy from Sipling’s Pet Shop. adult classes at DHS There are still openings in the adult English course, to be taught by Miss Catherine Zeller, which will meet for the first time on Feb. 19 at 7PM in room 138 at Donegal High School. For information call Miss Zeller at 653-4587, or call the high school (653-1871). The woodshop course will be begin on Weds., Feb. 14 at 7PM. Classes will be held every Weds. and Thurs. from 7-9. Barry McFarland is the in- structor. The class has Troop 63 to conduct paper drive Boy Scout Troop 63 will conduct a paper drive in all of Mount Joy, Florim and Donegal Heights on Satur- day, February 17th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
