Girl Scouts Advised on Self-defense Margaret Jordan, District director of Penn Laurel Girl Scouts, gave advice on self-defense at the Penn Laurel neighborhood meet- ing held recently at Gloss- brenner U.M. Church, Mount Joy. She advised the girls to scream, kick, bite, run, break a window, sound a fire alarm, or just hang onto a lamp post if attacked. Other tips she explained were: parking in a lighted area, having keys ready before one gets to a door or car, and keeping in mind that, if attacked, your life may be on the line, so you should not be timid about fighting back. Mrs. Nancy Kopf, neigh- borhood coordinator, pre- sided at the business session after the talk. The theme for Girl Scout Week was announced as ‘‘The Year of the Child.” It was also announced that the third annual Leaders Week- Scout Pack 136 attends Church Services Scout Pack 136 of Mount Joy attended church ser- vices for scouts last Sunday at the Evengelical Congre- gational Church.
