Leisure Club meets
The Mount Joy Area
Leisure Club held their first
meeting of the new year
recently at Hostetters with
79 present, the bad
weather accounting for the
small attendance. The
meeting began at 1:00 PM
with the invocation by
Frank Gingrich after which
cake and coffee were
served and enjoyed by all.
The business meeting
was called to order by
President Joe Shaeffer with
the pledge of allegiance to
the flag. Teressa Heisey
presented the secretary's
report and Almeda Hostet-
ter the treasurer’s report.
Elizabeth Hassinger re-
ported eleven cards sent to
shut-ins. Lena Eshleman
will be in charge of sending
the cards for the months of
January, February and
March. There being no old
business, the first order of
new business was the
installation of the officers
for the new year hes
done by Frand LeVan.
Following the installation
President Shaeffer present-
ed several items of new
business. The first item
was the agenda for the
year as prepared by the
Cast your vote!!
program committee and
officers at an earlier
meeting at the home of the
president. One big item of
business was holding the
Christmas party, should it
be at noon or in the
evening? A vote was
taken, but because of the
small’ crowd another vote
will be taken at the
February meeting.
Several other items were
brought to the attention of
the members. President
Shaeffer stated he would
get a supply of property tax
or rent rebate forms until
the next meeting. Bus
trips were mentioned but
no definite plans made at
the January meeting.
Hostesses for the Feb-
ruary meeting are Alice
Troutman, Minnie Tucker,
Nellie Vogle, Beatrice
Wagner, Mae Walters,
Mrs. Benjamin Weaver,
Mrs. Jacob Wolgemuth,

Zink and Elsie Bentzel.
The greeters for the
meeting will be Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Gingrich. The
February meeting will
begin at 1:00 PM and the
program will be Sandra
Heisey.

It has been calculated
that Americans, as a
whole, are 2.3 billion
pounds overweight. If this
mountain. of fat could be
converted to am energy
equivalent in gasoline, it
would propel 900,000 cars

America’s total calorie
surplus is 5.67 trillion
calories.
