Byrd of RD2 Mount Joy, recently graduated from a 47-week Chinese-Mandarin language course at the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio in Monterey California. The small classes there, consisting of about 7 students each, studied for- eign languages 6 hours a day. James entered the Army in March 1977. He is a 1976 graduate of Donegal High School. §§§ known as ‘‘Henny, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoover, of North Gay Street, Marietta, celebrated their 27th wedding anniver- sary on December 31st. They were married in Lancaster in 1951. They have one son, Jerry, a grandson, and a great- grandson. Mrs. Hoover is the former Dorothy Shope. Neale will speak on ‘‘Changing American Food Habits’ at the January 11 dinner meeting of the Lancaster Advertising Club at the Sheraton Conestoga. Neale, Food Vice Presi- dent for the Newspaper Advertising Bureau, Inc., directs the Bureau's activi- ties in the food. industry, including its major studies and relations with major food distributors. In 1975 Neale initiated the first project relating data from supermarket scanning installations to advertising and marketing. He currently directs the Bureau’s nationwide NABSCAN Program based on scanning data. Neale is a Yale graduate and a resident of Mt. Kisco, New York, where he is active in community affairs. SCHOFIELD Burle W. “‘Scopy”’ Schofield, 73, of 115 East Main Street, Mount Joy, died Saturday, December 23rd at the home of a daughter near Mount Joy. He was the husband of Anna Alexander Schofield. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William and Viola Mateer Schofield. He was a mem- ber of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and the Friendship Fire Company No. 1. He was self-employed as a barber. He followed this trade for about 60 years, starting work at the age of thirteen. Surviving him, besides his wife, are two daugh- ters: Shirley V., the wife of Howard C. Hilton, Gap RD2; and Maryanne, wife of . Joseph F. Coover, Mount Joy RD1; Two sons, Ronald B.
