A SPECIAL NOTICE
=)
We're pleased to report the continuing reduction of the Federal Excise Tax levy
on your monthly bill for telephone service.
The effective tax rate is to be lowered from 4 per cent to 3 per cent on bills for
telephone service rendered on or after January 1, 1979.
Additional rate reductions are scheduled to become effective each year until
1982. At that time the Federal Excise Tax on telephone service, first levied at a rate
of 10 per cent as an ‘‘emergency measure’ during World War II, will be
eliminated.

Three Center Square
gets unexpected visitor
Harry and Rachel
Rebman of Maytown not
only got their their usual
visit from Santa this year,
but also a visit from an
uninvited deer.
The deer, apparently lost
and panicky, wandered into
Maytown Square and
jumped right through the
both a storm window and
inside window of the Three
Center Square Inn restaur-
ant. The Rebman’s weren’t
in there, since it was
Christmas and they were at
home. A neighbor called:
and told them.
By the time the owners
arrived, the deer was gone,
his or her whereabouts
unknown. The animal had
run about inside the res-
taurant, causing several
hundred dollars’ damage
and leaving a little hair and
blood on the jagged edges
of the window.
The deer had left via the
same window it had enter-
ed by.
