78 December 27, 1978 Harry Martip Leib Harry Leib tends house and garden Harry Martin Leib, of 16 Fairview Street, Mount Joy, celebrated his 90th birthday on December 24. “Yes, 1 was born in 1888, and I've lived here in Mount Joy all my life,”’ he says. Mr. Leib, despite being a nonagenarian, still does all his own housework, cook- ing, and other house and garden tending. He retired in 1967 from Bachman’s Chocolate factory, where he worked for 22 years. He worked at .other factory jobs before that, but says he never did any strenuous work during his working life. He attributes His - longevity to this. Chiques AAA basketball results Here are the results of the Chiques Adult Athletic Association Basketball League for the last two weeks: On December 11th, at Farmdale Elementary School, the Bullets beat the Lakers 71-60, and Jazz defeated the Sonics 74-68. McDevitt, of 16 North Bank Street, Mari- etta, celebrated her 90th birthday on December 24. ‘‘She’s still active, even at her age,”’ says her son, former Marietta mayor Barney McDevitt. Mary keeps an apartment house and works as a self -employed seamstress. Mary has many cus- tomers, including teen- agers, in Marietta. Her dress shop has been open since 1956, when she retired as owner/manager of a grocery store and milk delivery business at 411 East Market. Mary and her late hus- band, Paul A. McDevitt (who passed away in 1927) started their grocery in 1919 at another spot along East Market, and later moved to 411 in 1940. Mary has 2 grandchil- dren, Pat and Mike, and 7 great-grandchildren. Dr. R. Bryson heads Rotary Following the noon meeting of Rotary on December 19 the new board of directors met to elect the officers for the Rotary year which begins July 1, 1979. The directors who were elected at an earlier meet- ing are, Dr. Richard Bryson, Harold Keller, Jay Greider, Benjamin Piersol, Jr., James Rutt, Jake Stehman, Abe Weidman, Samuel Zuch, and Joe Shaeffer. Retiring Presi- dent Lester Eshelman will become the tenth member of the board. Pack 136 news Scout Pack 136, Mount Joy, held a committee meeting at the home of Robert W. Mark.
