Mummaw, 16, received an Eagle Scout Award during a Court of Honor ceremony conducted by Troop 63 of Mount Joy. The Court of Honor was held at Glossbrenner Uni- ted Methodist Church on November 19. The award was presented by Gerald Alleman, Wes- tern District Advancement Chairman, and by James Ruhl, Scoutmaster of Troop 63. Mitch Mummaw is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Drew Mummaw, 717 Bruce Avenue, Mount Joy. Mitch is an active member of Glossbrenner U.M. Church, and serves as treasurer of the Youth Fellowship there. A junior at Donegal High School, he is enrolled in the academic course, and is a member of the DHS Marching Band, Concert Band, and Stage Band. He also plays on the tennis team and works with the dramatics club. Outside school, Mitch is a member of the Mount Joy Lions Swim Club Team and the Junior Rifle Team of the Mount Joy Sports- man’s Club. To earn his Eagle award, he co-ordinated the job of painting all the entrances to Glossbrenner Church. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow, an organization for Honor Scouts. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Mark created a library for Gloss- brenner Church. Benefit luncheon planned At the November meet- ing of the Marrietta Auxili- ary to the Columbia Hos- pital, plans were completed for a Holiday Benefit Luncheon to be held Mon- day, December 4, at 12:30 P.M., at the home of Mrs. Mary Sarver, Rheems. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Sylvia Henry with Miss Ruth Wisman as co-hostess. The luncheon will have a mouth watering menu of Oyster Bisque, Irish Cof- fee, Velvet Fruit Salad, Christmas Cookies, etc. A recipe exchange for a cookie tasting event and holiday goodies and novel- ties will be offered for sale. Members have tickets for chances on a holiday cheer basket of goodies to be awarded to a lucky winner. Mrs. Joe Carroll presid- ed at the business session when Mrs. William Heisey opened the meeting with readings entitled ‘‘Novem- ber, The Mayflower’ and *‘The Little Things." Mrs. George Houseal, chairperson of a recent pinocle party benefit, re- ported a profit of $147.80. A memorial was sent to the Columbia Hospital in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth McKain. Present was Doris Mor- row, from Donegal, Ire- land, who expressed her pleasure being in America. She explained the revolu- tion in her home country is only 20 miles from her home. Ms. Morrow related incidents happening in Ire- land, which have been going on for centuries without an end in sight. She stated attacks on various structures are done to call attention to the cause, which to some Irishmen seems pointless.
