November 8, 1978 Book addresses BPW Linda J. Derr weds on “free enterprise”’ Mr. Edward, Book spoke on ‘‘Free Enterprise’’ at the last meeting of the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club. Book is the chairman of the board of Hershey Estates. The program was arrang- ed by Mrs. Betty Groff, chairwoman of Legislative Committee. Betty also serv- ed as master of cere- monies. Miss Sandra Heisey, accompanying herself on piano, sang. The Donegal High Girl of the Month, Becky Zimmer- man, and her mother, Mrs. Harold Zimmerman, were introduced by Mrs. Ethel Broske. They were the guests of the club. Reports on the Fall District Meeting were pre- sented by Pat Shearer, Carol Lambert, and Yvonne Koser. The Red Lion club hosted the affair, held at the Holiday Inn. Mrs. Christine Graham, chairwoman of the Finance Committee, reported on the Candlelight Tour, which will be held on Sunday, November 19th, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. The tour will cover ten houses in the Mount Joy area. Refreshments will be served at Groff’'s Farm Restaurant, one of the ten locations. Tickets are avail- able from any member of the club or at any location on the day of the tour. Rhythm Singers chosen All it takes is the voice of a skylark, the reflexes of an acrobat, and the energy of a racehorse, and these kids have all three. Members of the Rhythm Singers were chosen by audition at DHS. They are; Rebecca Zimmer- man, Lisa Mummaw, Kristen Straub, Desiree Atkins, Bruce Wagner, Wayne Mylin, James Landis, Patrick Kenney, Donaid Kelly, Floyd Runkle, Deborah Torres, Mark Wagner, Maxine Maxwell, Joyce Darkey and Mike Burkowski. The first public appear- ance of the song and dance group will be Nov. 11, in the Veterans’ Day pro- gram. Pack 136 court of honor Pack 136 held a Court of Honor at the scout house in Mount Joy. Robert W. Mark present- ed candidates for the troop to scout master Harold Etsell: Brian Edye, Rick Hallgren, Todd Newcomer, and Kenneth Good, Jr. J.E. Ruoff presented ten- derfoot awards to David Nissley and Shawn Kreider. Ruoff, the scout execu- tive of the Lancaster -Lebanon Council, was given a neckerchief and made a member of Troop 39. William Hall got a Star Award (given by Irvin Births Mr. and Mrs. Robert AUNGST (Phyllis Hershey), Marietta RD1, a son at General Hospital, Thurs- day. Mr. and Mrs. Leon GEHMAN (Anna H. Dif- fenderfer), RD2 Mount Joy, a son at home, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Randall GOTTIER (Virginia Thomas), RD1 Mount Joy, a son at St. Joseph Hospital, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald PICKLE (Amy Simmons), 32 W. Walnut St., Marietta a daughter at General Hospital, Monday. Smith, Jr.) and presented a Skill Award. Cubmaster Robert W. Mark and assistant master John Auker gave him a Den Chief Cord. Concert The Elizabethtown Col- lege Concert Band will present a formal concert on the campus on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 PM in Thompson Gym. They will play works by Ives, Delle Cese and others plus a work written just for the band by Dr. Ronald Theilman, composer in res- idence at New Mexico State University. The concert is free to the public. Stuart Lee Eckman The marriage of Linda J. Derr to Stuart Lee Eckman took place on Saturday, November 4th, at 6:00 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy, with the Rev. David E. Klepper, Jr., officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Blough of Mount Joy RD2. She attended Donegal High School. She is employed by Donegal Industries, Mount Joy. The groom is the son of Charles Eckman, Lititz RD1, and Anna Eckman, 108 So. Ann Street, Lancas- ter. He is a graduate of McCaskey High School. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, and is currently employed by Ressler, Inc., Mount Joy.;. He is a Mount Joy resident. Miss Jan Grove, Mount- ville, was the maid of honor. Mrs. Joanne Ames, Strasburg, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Charlotte Houck, Strasburg, and Debbie Honberger, Lancaster.
