DHS students get inside story
on local jobs
~~ AAAS AAA RSH 0000 ~~
Donna Kreider [seated] explains her work to her sister Sandy, one of the DHS
students taking part in the career survey.
Donna works for Union National Mount Joy Bank, where the photo was taken.
Some Donegal High stu-
dents are getting in-depth
job counseling this month.
They're interviewing
people who work in local
businesses.
Members of the clerical
office practice class devel-
oped a questionnaire and
then got an individual, who
is working in a field the
student might want to
enter, to fill it out and
answer questions about his
or her job.
Most of the questions
were routine, others involv-
ed confidential information.
The students will discuss
their interviews together,
leaving the confidential
information out.
Some of the questions
included: title of the posi-
tion, major duties, needed
training, closeness of sup-
ervision, what is good and
bad about the job, and
working conditions. Some
confidential questions that
were suggested to the
students were: how the
people liked their bosses
and co-workers, how much
money the job pays, and
what personal satisfactions
the job provides.
Mrs. Houseal, the class
teacher, handed out survey
sheets with lists of suggest-
ed questions and guidlines.
The importance of courtesy
and confidentiallity was
stressed.
Each student will fill out
answers on the sheet and
deliver an oral report to the
rest of the class.
