Sue Meszaros, 39 W.
Walnut St., Marietta, is
playing with the West
Chester State College field
hockey team. She is
starting right halfback on
the JV’s. Sue was one of
those selected at attend
Grad Hockey Camp this
summer.
She is majoring in health
and physical education at
West Chester.
Sue is a 1978 graduate of
Donegal High School.

Marine Second Lieuten-
ant Dennis P. Werner, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Paul W.
Werner of Route 2, Mount
Joy, was commissioned in
his present rank upon
graduation from Officer
Candidate School.
The 10-week school was
conducted at the Marine
Corps Development and
Education Command in
Quantico, Va. The course
is designed to screen and
train personnel for com-
missioning as Marine
corps officers by providing
instruction in leadership
and basic military subjects
and emphasizing esprit de
corps and self-discipline.
A demanding physical con-
ditioning program comple-
ments the students’ course
of study.
Werner will now attend
the 21-week officer’s Basic
School, also at Quantico.
A 1974 graduate of
Donegal High School and a
1978 graduate of Delaware
Valley College, Doyles-
town, PA, with a Bachelor
of Science degree, he
joined the Marine Corps in
February 1978.

Cindy Charles
Miss Cynthia Charles, a
1977 graduate of Donegal
High School, was selected
recently to participate in
the Choral Union at West
Virginia University. Miss
Charles, an acting-voice
major, sings second sopra-
no in the choir which will
perform two major concerts
this semester. She has
also been chosen to dance
with The Mountain Jazz
Theatre which performs
throughout the state.
The daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Wilbur Charles,
822 Bruce Ave., Mount
Joy, Cindy is a freshman at
the University.
Mrs. Bertha Riley, of
Marietta, is a patient at
Columbia Hospital. She
would enjoy cards and
visitors.

Airman John M. Dave-
ler, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John R. Daveler of Mari-
etta, has been selected for
technical training at Dover
AFB, Del., in the Air Force
fuel field.
The airman recently
completed basic training at
Lackland AFB, Texas, and
studied the Air Force
mission, organization and
customs and received spe-
cial instruction in human
relations. Completion of
this training earned the
individual credits towards
an associate in applied
science degree through the
Community College of the
Air Force.
Airman Daveler attended
Donegal High School.

Mount Joy Restaurant, will
celebrate his 17th birthday
on October 12.

The Auments will cele-
brate their 38th wedding
anniversary on October 12.

Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Elwood K. Rice of 222 W.
Donegal Street, Mount Joy,
has been selected for tech-
nical training at Sheppard
AFB, Texas, in the Air
Force mechanical and elec-
trical field.
The airman recently
completed basic training at
Lacklanc AFB, Texas, and
studied the Air Force
mission, organization and
customs and received
special instruction in hu-
man relations. Completion
of this training earned the

science degree through the

Airman Rice is a 1978
graduate of Donegal High

Patricia Jean Brown, a
senior at Indiana University
of Pennsylvania is starting
her fourth year on the
Varsity Field Hockey team.
Her freshman and
sophomore year, Pat start-
ed as right wing on the
offense. Her junior year,
and present season, she is
starting as left wing.
In the past three seasons
she has been selected as a
Pittsburgh All-Star player.
She has attended the
Mid-East Field Hockey
Tournament as a Pitts-
burgh player for three
years.
She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. - Eugene S.
Brown of RD1,Mount Joy.
Pat was a varsity member
of the Donegal High School
Hockey team.
Pat is a Business Major
at Indiana University of
Pennsylvania and is active
in Kappa Delta sorority,
The Society for the Ad-
vancement of Management.
She was recently selected
as an escort for Indiana
University of Pennsylvan-
ia’s Business Day, when
she escorted Mr. David
Johnson, Vice-President of
Pennsylvania Manufac-
turer’s Association Insur-
ance Company.

Pvt. Rachel E. Wolge-
muth, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jay Wolgemuth, 345
S. Market Avenue, Mount
Joy, is participating with’
other American and allied
troops in REFORGER ’78,
NATO’s largest yearly ex-
ercise, held in Germany.
Rachel is regularly as-
signed as a truck driver
with the 503rd Supply and
Transport Battalion in
Frankfurt, Germany. She
entered the Army in April
1978.
She is a 1977 graduate of
Donegal High School.
Jim Johnson is a fresh-
man majoring in Theater
Arts and Communications
at Penn State University.
Jim got his first taste of
how big Penn State really
is when he walked into his
first Theater Club meeting
and came face to face with
300 students. He has
already tried out for a
dancing role in ‘‘Dames At
Sea.”
