September 27, 1978 Mrs Bachman addresses Farm Women Farm Women’s Society #8 met in the home of Kathryn Erb, 255 Marietta Avenue, Mount Joy, Sep- tember 16th at 2:00 PM. Kathryn Heisey the Society President was in charge of the meeting. Ruth Musser led the opening song. Molly Baer conducted the devotional period. She read three poems by Helen Steiner Rice. Mary Grace Martin, Secretary read the minutes, and roll call was taken. Twenty three mem- bers were present and names of favorite fra- grances of perfumes were given in response. The main feature was a talk given by Mrs. Walter Bachman of York; the title ‘was ‘‘Parable of Per- fumes.” As she mentioned her favorite perfumes she compared these titles with the fragrance of the inner personalities of Christians. Scripture references were given as reminders of those attitudes and motives nec- essary in lives to spread good will and sunshine to others: Qualities in cha- racter are shown forth as fragrances. Newly elected officers for the next two years are Kathryn Heisey as Presi- dent and Kathryn Erb as Vice President. This Society plans to have a food table when “Christmas in October”’ Days are held, October 23rd and 24th at the Farm and Home Center. Contact ... School board (cont.) Contribu- tion was given in honor of Viola Greider. This was presented to Camp Hebron. The sewing date at the General Hospital is October Sth. Thursday, October 19th, this Society will tour the Goodwill Industries at 2:00 PM. Lunch will be eaten at the Stockyards at 12:00 noon for those who will go as a group on the tour. Hostesses providing re- freshments were Kathryn Erb, Mary Reist, Pauline Miller, Minnie Kulp and Elizabeth Witmer. The Elizabethtown Public Library Art Show starts today, Wednesday, Sep- tember 27th, and will continue through Wednes- day, October 4th, during regular library hours. The show features oils, acrylics, watercolors, gra- phics, photographs, sculp- ture and a wide variety of crafts. The artists are all residents of the area. Visitors to the show are encouraged to vote for their favorite work. A popular choice award will be a- warded to the artist whose work receives the most votes. Demostrations will be featured during the course of the show. Thursday, September 28th, at 2:00 PM Patty Longenecker will demonstrate how to create corn husk flowers. Saturday, September 30th, Linda Homa and Naomi Hershey will aid children in a special art project. This is open to all children. Materials will be provided. Monday, October 2nd, at 6:30 PM Pat Drybred will work on an acrylic painting. Tuesday, October 3rd, at 7:00 PM Sue Keeney will demonstrate basketry while Barb Avicolli works on macrame. The show will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM; Monday and Friday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Artists may pick up their exhibits the evening of Wednesday, October 4th or later.
