DID YOU HEAR?
At 4:30 a.m. on August
19, Rodney Arndt and Jay
Emenheiser of Mount Joy
started out in Jay’s car on
a trip to where? When
they left Mount Joy they
were not sure whether they
wanted to go to Maine or
. Tennessee. They first went
to Lock Haven State Park,
where they spent the night
of Saturday August 19.
Sunday niglit Rodney’s
mother, Mrs. Robert W.
Arndt of 831 Wood Street
in Mount Joy got a call
from Rodney from some-
where in West Virginia.
Wednesday midnight,
she got a call from Rodney
again. ‘‘Guess where we
are,” he said. *“It’'s 9
o’clock here.”’ Rodney and
Jay were at the Grand
Canyon in Colorado. They
hiked to the bottom of the
canyon, then started for
home. They arrived back in
Mount Joy at 3 a.m.
Sunday, August 27.
Rod had $S when he got
back; they had figured
their costs very exactly.
Why did they go to the
Grand Canyon? ‘‘Because
it was there,’ they said.
Last week Rod and Jay
went to Perry County
where they shot a rattle-
snake, which Rod’s mother
cooked for supper last
Saturday.
