At a recent special
meeting at the home of the
president, Betty Hershey,
discussion was held con-
cerning the plan of action
for the fall term. A mem-
bership drive is being
planned for September with
Beverly Johnson as chair-
man.
All people interested in
supporting the arts are
asked to contact Mrs.
Johnson at 546 Terrace
Ave., Mount Joy (Phone:

application.
Coming up on the school
calendar will be the senior
class play ‘MAME’ under
the direction of Glenn
Hess on October 27th and
28th.
The annual Veterans’
Day program will be held
on November 11th in the
DHS Auditorium under the
direction of Mrs. Mary
-Margaret Peraro. This
program is open to the
public free of charge.
The next regular meeting
of PUFA will be held
Tuesday, September 12th
at 8:30 PM. A special
program is being planned
under the direction of Mrs.
Peraro. They will be pre-
senting a comedy in one
act entitled, “Why I Am A
Bachelor.”” Cast members
include: James Landis,
Patrick Kenney, Bonnie
Wolgemuth, Wayne Mylin,
Deb Torres, Georgiann
Westerman and Julie End-
slow.
This is open to the public
and no admission will be
charged. A short business
meeting will follow the
program.

Pack 136 went to Phila-
delphia to see a baseball
game between the Philadel-
phia Phillies and the
Pittsbuigh Pirates. Attend-

Kent Keith Moore
The marriage of Miss
Jodie Lynn Sargen and
Kent Keith Moore was
solemnized on Saturday,
August 26, at 6:30 PM in
the Lancaster Grace Bre-
thren Church. The Rev. E.
Keith Moore and the Rev.
Wesley Haller were the
officiating ministers at the
double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Cleon L.
Sargen, 1 Bell Drive, West
Chester who gave her in
marriage. She wore a floor
length giana gown with
embroidered alecon lace.
Her elbow length mantilla
of chiffon was trimmed
with reembroidered clecon
lace. She carried a bouquet
of white roses, baby breath
and a touch of red
sweetheart roses.
Miss Judy Sargen was
maid of honor for her sister
and bridesmaids were Kay
Strander, Manheim, sister
of the groom, Jan Ma-
oogian, Boston, Donna
Williams, Lancaster, Mary
Ellen Ortman, Lancaster
and Kris Halloday, Indiana,
sister of the groom.

demy in 1972 and the Word
of Life Institute, Schroon
Lake, N.Y. in 1974 and is
employed with Way Mess-
enger Services, Lancaster.

er residents of Marietta
and Hempfield area.

and Mrs. Lloyd Shearer. It

Yellow journals?
A plant called kenaf,
which is used for rope in
the Third World, can be
used to make newsprint
also, according to scientists
who say its only drawback
