The Train Robbers August 2, 1978 Ralph Youiz retires Ralph Youtz of Marietta, a construction foreman- materials in Pennsylvania Power and Light Co.’s Lancaster Distribution, will retire July 31 after 38 years of service with the utility. He joined PP&L in 1940 as a laborer at Sunbury. Over the years he advanced through a number of jobs including stockman, con- struction warehouse super- visor and material sub-fore- man. He has been in his present position since 1966. Youtz is a native of Sunbury and was graduat- ed from Sunbury High School. A Mason, he is a member of F&AM Lodge 632 in Sunbury, Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo tem- ple. He is a board member of the First Methodist Church in Marietta and, in Sunbury, is a life member of the Friendship Hose Co.; past commander of VFW Post 1532; a member of Elks Lodge 267 and Ameri- can Legion Post 201. Mrs. Youtz is the former Thelma Love of Brecken- ridge, Texas. They have one daughter, Jane, wife of Brian Riecke, a student at the University of Texas. They plan to reside in Mineral Wells, Texas. Cookout and bingo at Marietta playground A cookout and a bingo game were the highlights of the week at Marietta playground. Bingo winners were Anna Zink, Regina Martin, Shelby Baughman, Whitney Christian, Larry Stoppard, Tim Hoffmaster, Dawn Coover, Jody Zink, Grace Henderson, Missy Hinkle, Becky Bensinger, and Deane Harnish. A bike rodeo will take place today: kids may register at the beginning of the rodeo, which costs $1.00 to first time and $.50 for a re-registration. On Thursday a balloon battle will take place. Birds of prey A program on Pennsyl- vania’s birds of prey will be held Saturday (August S) at 8:30 PM at Pequea Creek Campground at Lake Aldred. Mike Ondik, director of white-tailed deer research at Pennsylvania State U- niversity, will present the slide show and discussion titled ‘‘Hawk Country,”’ Ben Moyer, seasonal natur- alist at Lake Aldred, has announced. “Ondik has devoted many years to observing, studying and photograph- ing Pennsylvania's hawks, eagles and owls. His superb slide collection de- picts nearly every aspect of the life histories of the state’s birds of prey. ‘“The program includes some exceptionlly fine shots of the birds’ nesting and feeding activities," Moyer said. There is no admission charge for the program which is open to the public. Those attending are advis- ed to bring chairs or blankets for seating as the program will be held outdoors, Moyer said. Pequea Creek Camp- ground is located along Route 324 near the village of Pequea. The camp- ground is part of the Lake Aldred recreation area op- erated by Pennsylvania Power and Light Co. in conjunction with its Holt- wood hydroelectric gener- ating plant.
