The Donegal High School
graduation ~~ ceremonies
went smoothly despite the
threat of rain. Hundreds of
parents ‘and friends turned
out to see the graduating
seniors presented.
Awards were given out
to students who distin-
guished themselves in
various fields. Karen Al-
bright won no less than 7
awards. As Mr. West
presented her with one
after another, the crowd
began to laugh and
applaud.
Karen won these awards:
Mount Joy Jaycee Valedic-
torian award; Charles J.
Bennett College Prepara-
tory award; English Award;
Bausch & Lomb Science
award; Donegal Mutual
Insurance Co. Math Award;
Each of these girls won a $500 scholarship from the Donegal Education

The salutatorian award
went to Denise Grimm,
who also won a $500
scholarship from the Farm
and Home Foundation.
The Business Ed award
went to Carol Nolt, as did
the attendance award.
John Wagner won the
Vo-Tech Valedictorian
award. Mark Divet got the
salutatorian award.
The Mount Joy Lions
award went to Kathi
Shelly. Armstrong Lab
awarded Bruce Eyer a
savings bond. The Mount
Joy B.P.W. gave a $500
scholarship to Holly
Spence.

The Mount Joy Joycee-
ettes gave $300 to Lori
Gebhart. Joi Shearer got
the DHS Dramatics Club
patriotism award. Miriam
Ginder received the Mari-
etta Lions Club Service
Award, and also the Zi
Alpha Iota award.
Eileen Penyak was given
the Americanism Award.
Scott Boylan received the
John A. Haines Memorial
Scholarship of $100. Todd
Garber got $50 from the
PA Motor Truck Associa-
tion for safe driving.
Dawn Shireman and
Melvin Hay shared the
American Youth Founda-
tion Citizenship Award.
Jolene Lindemuth and
Todd Garber shared the
V.F.W. Citizenship Award.
P.U.F.A. gave Allison
Hawthorne and Jim John-
son $50 savings bonds for
arts participation.
Pam Kolp and Scott
Mowrer won the Joycee
-ettes’ athletic awards.
Anthony Branch, Carolyn
Davis, and John Jenkins
got the Urban League
Youth Awards.
Miriam Ginder, Tammy
