Carpet expert
Norris Allman, of 1 Donegal Place, Marietta, is shown
above Inspecting carpet at the Marietta Armstrong
Carpet Plant, Norris has been looking for defects in all
900 types of Armstrong carpet for years; he told us that
when he visits people, he can tell at a glance if their
carpeting is made by Armstrong.
‘I make sure that everything that goes through here
is all right,’’ he says of his job, which he has held
almost since the plant opened ten years ago.
The carpet, on moving rubber tracks [visible at right],
is moving away from the camera, and Norris is’ walking
toward us, though not getting any closer. He carries
tape and tags, and when he sees a defect, he marks it.
A huge roll of carpet is behind the camera. At the end
we see In the distance, a saw cuts the carpet to length.
Norris and his wife had a baby last week, by the way.
