Thank you note The Auxiliary of the Maytown Fire Co. wishes to - thank those who attended our Mother’s Day dinner, those who donated cokes and corn, and all those who so graciously helped with the dinner, to make it a success. Our regrets to those we had to turn away because we ran out of food. Message [To the editor] In response to the woman who spoke out at the recent school board forum at the Donegal High School, concerning the shoddy job of snow removal at the Riverview school this past winter, let me remind you whoever you are that this past winter we had snowfall above normal and freezing temperatures be- low normal most of the winter. How can one janitor who starts work at 7:00 AM, clean the snow from 1,000 feet of walkways, plus a front and rear entrance in time for an 8:30 opening of school, plus doing other chores around a school building. Then to make matters more difficult, when it snows on Saturday or Sunday and freezes up till Monday morning, did you ever try to shovel frozen snow from your walks, difficult job you might agree. For you information we do use snow shovels around a school. Our janitors do the best they can under the conditions that sometimes exist. I have observed this past winter numerous sidewalks in Marietta that were not shoveled and the children coming to school had to walk on top of the snow. Next winter bring your shovel along and help the janitors, we start at 7:00 AM. Charles A.
