Ruby Houck is Leader of the Year
— other awards at Girl Scout recognition night
Ruby Houck of Mount
Joy has been chosen Girl
Scout Leader of the Year.
Mrs. Houck was picked
from all the leaders of the
Donegal area by testimon-
ial letters: girl scouts wrote
letters advocating that their
leaders be chosen, and
judges evaluated picked the
winner from the letters.
Names were deleted from
the letters before judging.
Donna Wetzel presented
the Leader of the Year
award, and a token of
appreciation from neighbor-
hood coordinator Nancy
Kopp, at a ceremony last
Monday night at St. Luke’s
Episcopal Church in Mount
Joy.
Ruby Houck is a native
of Canada. She has been a
leader for 10 years, and
now leads troop 323 of
Mount Joy. She is the
mother of two children, and
studies at York College as
an art major.
Members of troop 323
made these remarks:
‘““She’s always happy and
nice.”’
‘‘She helps us become
better people.’’
‘She makes us feel
important when we’re with
her.”
Mrs. Wetzel said, ‘‘Be-
cause of the time and effort
she has given her girls, the
neighborhood is proud to
make this award.”’
Other awards were given
out at the Donegal Neigh-
borhood Recognition Night
ceremonies. Girl Scout

Mount Joy recently
amended its bicycle law.
All bikes must be register-
ed by July 1st. The new
card is permanent and
costs $1.00. Title transfers
also cost $1.00.

of the bike, serial number,
color, and size.
