If you have some of these, Grandview kids visit Virginia The sixth grade at Grandview went on its annual field trip on March 29 through 31st. The two classes, under Mr. Konas and Mr. Evans, visited Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Carter’s Grove Planta- tion in Virginia. The 45 students and the 11 adults who also went saw gunsmiths, instrument makers, and other old-time artisans in Williamsburg. They tried their hands at dipping candles and spin- ning flax, and dropped into an apothecary shop. At Jamestown they visit- ed the Old and New World Pavillions, boarded replicas of the ships that brought the first settlers to the town, and toured the reconstructed fort. The fort was the kids’ favorite, according to Mr. evans. “We all had a good time of course, but the main purpose of the field trip was for the students to learn about their heritage.” Mr. Evans started the annual trips in 1970.
