Water in the new budget totals $391,900, which is $26,050 over last year’s. The first increased bill will be received by Mount Joy residents in June. The Authority managed to keep the sewer rate constant. The sewer budget of $165,136 was approved. However, sewer rates are likely to go up within the year, because of the expense of the new plant. The borough will confer with a professional bond counsel on the bond issue later, around September. The sewer project, sche- duled to start next year, will take about 20 months to complete. Robert Stark, the boro engineer, reported that the Plum Street reservoir’s cover is in bad shape, and will need to be replaced soon. The Authority asked Stark to analyse the reser- voir’s function. It came out that Vartan Associates’ law suit against the borough, a contract dis- pute, will be settled out of court by the insurance companies.
