The Conestoga once powered 400 mills. It was named for the Conestoga Indians who once lived on its banks. Twenty species of fish inhabit it. It is the only river that has both its source and mouth within Lancaster County. President Mrs. Paul Portner conducted the business session. Hostesses were Mrs. Wilbur Haas, Mrs. P.L. Rettew, Mrs. Freda Conrad, and Mrs. Freda Betz. Miss Elsie McCloskey, the trip chairwoman, told the group about the planned bus trip to The Great Adventure in New Babysitting Clinic Registration for the Mount Joy Joycee-ettes’ baby-sitting clinic will be held on March 21st. Every year the Donegal School District conducts a census of all district residents, visiting each home. This year’s census started on March 1st. This census has no direct influence on property as- sessments or tax rates: it is intended only as a head count. The information will be stored and processed in SUSQUEHANNA TIMES—Page 3 Donegal District census a computer, to help the schools system better serve the district. To keep the cost of the census down, you should cooperate with the census -takers. If everyone cooper- ates, the survey should be complete by May 1st. Census takers are: Ben Gainer (East Donegal town- ship); Jay M. Kaylor (Marietta Borough); Ruth Newcomer (Mount Joy Borough, east); Kenneth and Margaret Nissley (Mount Joy Borough, west); and Lois Milbee (Mount Joy Township). The census-takers will want to know the name, birthday, and school grade if in school, of each person in your home. Butterflies are Freeto be presented The Columbia Little Theater will present its second production of ’78, Butterflies are Free, on March 30 and April 1st and 2nd. They claim they will ‘‘dazzle’’ the audience— are they merely bragging? You can find out by attending this comedy. The plot concerns a young blind man who moves into his first apart- ment on his own. His next door neighbor, an aspiring actress, and he have a common connecting door, which causes his mother no end of concern. The actress’s male friend adds a twist to the goings-on. The show will take place at the Park School Audi- torium at 8:00 each night. Tickets are $3.00, $2.00 for students and senior citi- zens, $1.00 for kids under 12.
