Letters
Dear Editor,
As a subscriber of the
Susquehanna Times I
would like you to know I
enjoy reading your paper.
However, I do not hesi-
tate to let you know of dis-
appointment in reading the
off-color joke that you
printed in the front page of
the Times which was
quoted at the banquet in
honor of Bruce Sutter.
I feel it was in poor taste
and not necessary. Bruce
has done well in reaching
his goals in the field of
baseball and I believe that
for the amount of space
given to the report on the
banquet held for him, cer-
tainly much finer quotes
could have been printed
and the M.C.’s omitted.

Letter to the Editor:
This letter is being writ-
ten on behalf of all the
members of the Maytown
-East Donegal Township
Fire Company, as well as,
our Ambulance Association
to the Ladies’ Auxiliary for
their very generous dona-
tions to both the Fire and
Ambulance associations.
At their monthly meeting
last week our auxiliary
voted to donate $1000 to
our Fire Company towards
the purchase of new fire
coats for our firemen. In
today’s market of ever
growing prices, equipment
for emergency personnel or
vehicles sometimes is too
great for a small organiza-
tion to purchase. We feel
fortunate that the ladies of
our auxiliary believe in
what we are trying to do
each time the siren blows—
that being the saving of
human lives and valuable
property. Maybe some
people don’t feel as
firemen or ambulance
people do, but ask a fire-
man to risk his or her life
to save a child or any
human being and they will
try. Equipment plays so
large a part in emergencies
today, and without good
equipment, the job can’t be
Golden Age
The Maytown Golden
Age Club held memorial
services for those members
who died during 1977 at
their February meeting.
Caroline Good, Reuben
Kendig, and Mrs. Mae
Hicks were remembered by
the group at the United
Church of Christ. Rev.
Edgar Steedle, pastor of
the church, gave a short

done efficiently.
Our. ladies have come to
help us many times in the
past and perhaps weren’t
given the credit they
rightly deserve, but they
pitch in anytime to help the
organizations like the Fire
Company and Ambulance.
We will continue to strive
to serve our town and sur-
rounding area of East Don-
egal Township with good
equipment and manpower,
whatever the emergency.
We need the support of
everyone in East Donegal
Township and Maytown to
continue our efforts. What
we are trying to do is not
lose—lose a life, property,
and yes, our own people.
We sincerely thank you
ladies for your donation, it
will provide our firemen
with the most modern safe
coats money can buy.
Our Ambulance Associa-
tion also thanks you for the
donation to help repair and
equip our ambulance.
Whatever the need, the
Auxiliary has helped—for
that we say, ‘‘Thank You
So Much.”
Respectfully,
Jack B. Doutrich
