Shown above is the family the church These kids had a good time at the Tet celebration. Left to right, they are Lucia ‘“‘Holly’’ Vu, Hien ““They’ve been learning from us for two and a half years,”’ said Rev. Wagner of Glossbrenner Church, ‘and now we ‘have an opportunity to learn some- thing from them.” He was speaking of Sa and Xuan Nguyen, Viet- namese refugees who were sponsored by Glossbrenner Church in Mount Joy when they first arrived in this country. Both Sa and Xuan spoke to about 130 mem- bers of the congregation who gathered last Sunday night to hear Sa and Xuan speak about their exper- iences, their feelings, and their gratitude for the help given them in making a new start in a strange land. About 15 Vietnamese from the Mount Joy area attended the affair, which was partly a celebration of the Vietnamese New Year, Tet. One Vietnamese wo- man told a Times reporter that Tet is much like Christmas — gifts are given, and everything is made new — many Viet- namese paint their houses over the new year. The Vietnamese prepar- ed several types of entrees for the evening: Egg rolls, banh dan (a sort of coated meatball), and shrimp chips. All the Vietnamese foods were tasty, as was a cake which appeared to be native American fare. The shrimp chips, though, were intriguing as well as delicious. A shrimp ship is a cross between a potato chip and shrimp-flavored Rice Cris- pies. It is shaped like the chip, but has exactly the texture of the Crispies. The flavor is delicate, but decidedly shrimp. sponsored with Rev. Clair Wagner, Jr. They are Sa and Xuan Nguyen, with son Hai and daughter Hien. tu Hours: Mon., Tues., & Wed. ed a.m.-5:30 p.m. Ry, d roopsie's Key & Lock Shop 136 West Market Street SHOP HOURS: Mon., Tue., Thu. & Fri. 1—6 Wed. & Sun.—CLOSED Sat. 10—6 IBBERSON’S CARPET FOR HOME AND CAR Nguyen, Hieu Duc Vu, and Timmy Wolgemuth.
