Big Sisters?
The Big Brothers organi-
zation, at its last board
meeting, voted to let
women into the program as
Big Sisters. About 40% of
all Big Brother groups now
admit women.
The Big Sister Pilot
Project will involve about
30 girls and run for less
than a year. Presumably it
will be adopted permanent-
ly if successful.
If readers know of any
girls aged 7 to 16 whose
mothers are dead, missing,
work too many hours to pay
enough attention to their
daughters, or are emotion-
ally unable to cope with
their daughters, give the
Big Brothers a call at
397-7567 on weekdays
before 4:30 PM.
Any women who would
like to be Big Sisters can
call the same number.
The Big Brothers say
that, in the case of girls
whose mothers are at
home, the Big Sisters will
not be intended to replace
the mother, but to support
her. Big Sisters will not
have to put in inordinate
amounts of time should
they volunteer.

The booklet tells you how
to vote by machine and by

eral elections.
