Junior Achievement fund drive
High school kids are budding execs
There is a program in
our county that gives local
high school students a
chance to start their own
businesses. It’s called
Junior Achievement.
In the last 23 years 8,900
students have, under adult
supervision, become entre-
preneurs and actually start-
ed their own businesses.
Chairman Don Brubaker
says, ‘‘There is a need for
this type of business and
economic education for our
young people today that
simply cannot be taught in
a classroom.”
Junior Achievement is
starting their fund drive
now; they are hoping to get
$50,000. They get most of
their contributions from
business.
Last year 509 high school
students ran 19 companies
in Lancaster County under
the auspices of the pro-
gram.
For more information,
call Duanne Peters at
397-5779.
